    Utterly shambolic.

We would have had the same squad with/without the champions league, so what was the point in us getting there if we are just going to bank the cash?

We have one of the weakest midfielder in recent times, a midfield that made Halliday and co look good, * me!

I'm actually glad Simunovic is still here as well, to be honest.

Was dreading potentially having to use Ambrose again at some point. Now he is here that makes it less likely.

He also has potential and I think too many people are tarring him with the 'Sick note' brush, far too early.

Hoping he can show Rodgers that he is worth persisting with.

Another show of strength by Brendan here. He's not going to sign players who ain't good enough, just because everyone's in a panic. We've not got 30 mil in the bank unless I'm mistaken, we get the money after the season's finished. How can we build a team worthy of champions league, in a few months?Brendan has a long term plan, he's not looking for a deadline day quick fix . Every * player we sign, prevents us from signing a potentially good one.
    Glad Brendan has some sense.

So, it's the first of September. Who else has coughed up £700+ to the club this season already and is irate at the lack of a centre midfield signing? :bbpd: A fantastic window overall, but very disappointing way to end it.

No he didnt. He was average in a few games and terrible in others , had a couple of genuine stinkers. Sviatchenko is infinitely the better player.

The main disappointment is the fact they should be honest come out and say we have completed our business for this window so we know that's it,

You can except that but we are trying for one or two more just sets you up for disappointment if it doesn't happen

Really disappointed that no moves materialised for a week after securing champions league qualification. Really disappointed.

Ambrose not moving is a kick in the baws. Hopefully that's a sign that he won't be used much and that he is away by next summer at the latest.

It is really disappointing we haven't signed a c/ m player. Even before Champions League qualification we all knew that we needed to strengthen there. But Brendan knows what he is doing and where the team building is going. I am sure he would have had his targets but for whatever reason they didn't come I am glad we didn't sign any mediocre players just for the sake of signing someone. If you bring players in you want to improve the team not just change players like for like.
I will give the club the benefit of the doubt at the moment until they make a statement as to why we never signed a c/m or even why half the dead wood are still there. Clubs know we have money to spend on players but just look at some of the deals that have gone through. Millions spent on players from mediocre clubs, players costing millions who don't even have international caps. It's an over inflated market and I am glad we haven't been held to ransom to spend money on players that were no better than what we have.

All the Champions' League does, is raise already high profile. It's a large part of the reason we got the business done early. It's normal for us to get caught up in the last day of hype surrounding the closing of the window. We got our work done early and i'd like to point out having the players in early enough is for the qualifiers.

So really we've had a transfer deadline day for each of the qualifiers. Having to qualify makes it different for us.

For each of the qualifiers we had a new player or two in. It's maybe a large part of the reason we were able to qualify.

Last night was kind of our third transfer deadline of the Summer. Sure we failed in securing a player last night to add to the quality we have.

Sure it would have been nice, but the reality is 32 players is a decent enough sized squad. We've added height and pace, some invaluable experience.

So we got players in early enough to have them up to speed already, i'd rather we got the business done early than wait until the final day.

For sure, there are one or two players out of contract that could do a job for us, but i'd like to go with what we have and give the players we have a chance.

What i would say is we've moved on players we could have got some cash for, it's a distinct change in transfer policy and given another window or two you can imagine the team we're building.

I believe everything will become apparent in the Old Firm game coming up.

Any results we get in Europe now will be down to hard work and we've a lot of workers in the team and also good footballers.

So now the dust has settled everyone can knuckle down to the hard work, with the players effectively knowing what positions Brenda wants to strengthen next.

Some of Brenda and Lawwell's masterstrokes is getting folks on loan down south.

Janko needs games, he needs to find a low centre of balance otherwise he's a bit flat footed and i see him as a defensive midfielder. We'll see how he gets on at Barnsley.

Getting these guys loaned out to England can potentially push up any transfer fee we could get, even though that policy has been slightly put on the back burner to have guys ready for the first team now, and not in six months or a years time.

It could be the case Janko didn't take the heat all that well in Israel, we'll soon find out.

Efe is still here and he's solid at right back, with a right midfielder in front of him. He's always been a target for fan frustration and we all get that. No point going over old content, at some point you look at the defenders we have and if we can't build a mean defense from that it's the managers problem.

Who else is a dud, MacGregor? Been over this last Summer and he's dramatically improved in the domestic stuff. Haha, he's an excellent player.

The one person nobody will blame for the game in Israel is Brenda who got the team selection wrong, which happens with every manager at some point.

Now with GMS, Simunovic, Efe atc. knowing the score, it might well make them work harder and really add some aggression to their game.

    Stranger things have happened.

At least it's a distinct change in attitude we had from Pukki etc. Willing to stay and fight for their place in the team.

The one team who'd have loved us to offload more players is Sevco and i just see far better squad than we've had for years and it's testament to the board that the expectations have been raised.

Now here's the kicker, given this CL money what do we need? I'm gonna hazard a guess and say that maybe allows us to go big on one or two players in January or next Summer.

Also, i think we've a happy squad, with excellent coaches, so everyone can improve, they can get stronger, but the wee guys will always struggle in the big arenas on pitches where it's impossible to fill in the spaces for 90 minutes.

But right now i think we've an outside chance of third place in the group, outwith a miracle, which i wouldn't say is completely impossible. An outside chance.

Even not qualifying for the Europa League, increases your chance of a treble.

That has to be the goal for this season. Champions' League group and the treble.

We certainly have a squad capable of that and it might take another window or two to make us stronger in terms of on the bigger pitches, but the reality is we'll play most games in wee venues in the domestic stuff. We've a perfect squad for that.

What else, unbeaten in the league would be nice, if a little unrealistic. Certainly winning all the Old Firms. Again we're in a strong position to do that.

Been a good window, we passed on a lot of players and signed some interesting ones.

Fair to say, we've done well enough. You can only do so much in the window and we've a meaner, leaner squad now, with a lot in reserve coming up through the ranks.

Celtic failed in a late bid to sign James Morrison from West Brom. It's the gossip.

I'm guessing the cash for Simunovic would maybe be used to sign Morrison. I like Morrison he'd have been excellent here. Good thing is at least he fancied the move.

One to look out for in January maybe.

We needed a decent CM and possibly one more, to avoid probably being completely humiliated in Europe. Only time will tell on signings like DDV who had a howler of a debut and Gamboa who has hardly kicked a ball the past two seasons. Also whoever said Efe was a solid right back, your guide dogs been winding you up again. PL and the board don't understand that every now and again a business needs to invest in its assets and bite the bullet. We broke even in transfers so nothing was spent in reality, so making the champions league and breaking even was a golden opportunity for asset investment but nah if it's a safe stand area to be constructed to squeeze me more people in and get more money they have no issue paying for that

As the dust settles, it was a solid window. I think we all got hyped up over the idea of a class midfielder to complete Brendan's jigsaw, it seemed on the cards.

Wasn't to be this time, but the squad is still in much better shape than it was. I just hope the board did try their best to get the man he wanted and didn't just decide job done for the season.
