I'm not too sure. Let's be honest, there's a good chance we will finish 4th in our CL group. If that happens, we're out of Europe so spending money on players isn't really needed. Unless we sell one or two or get injuries.

Finnbogason, to the people who matter at Celtic, wasn't worth what Heerenveen valued him at. The SFA probably * us over with the Büttner deal by closing the window before business was concluded down south. Lennon was well within his rights to say we were going after another striker and a left-back because we were. The fact that we didn't get them was unfortunate but, in the grand scheme of things, it's not the end of the world.

Lennon's said in the past that it's not a matter of us not wanting to spending money, it's a matter of us wanting to bring in a player who is value for money. If a player is a bargain at £5m or £6m, we'll go after him. Clearly they didn't feel this to be the case with Alfie.

I'd rather we conducted out business like that than like Liveepool who spend ridiculous * transfer fees on average players.

But then surely if we buy in January, it lets them settle in for the qualifiers next year, no?

Brilliant post. Sums it up perfectly. We've lost 3 first team
players and brought in 6, while losing some of the dead wood. We have strengthened. Im looking forward to seeing the new guys.

    - Biton could turn out to be better than Wanyama and he cost £200k less.
    - Pukki is already proven at a higher level than Hooper was when we signed him in 2010.
    - Boerrigter was a regular for Ajax, one of the best sides in Europe and with a history of producing great players.
    - Virgil looked amazing yesterday and may turn out better than Wilson.
    - We've been looking for a good target man for a while and signed Balde, who is young, 6'4 and still relatively experienced in the Portuguese league.

I'm not saying it's been a perfect window, but let's be honest, we all knew that Wanyama and Hooper were EPL bound sooner rather than later and they are always going to be hard to replace.

We have made an effort to replace Vic with the signing of Biton, and we did make a bid for Finnbogason as a Hooper replacement. However, Pukki may turn out to be an adequate replacement anyway.

Gary wants to become a regular in the England squad and Vic made no secret of the fact that he wanted to play in the EPL one day.

I'm willing to give the new guys a couple of months to settle in and get used to their new surroundings before properly judging them.

A lot of people, myself included, are very happy with the signing of Pukki. I think he'll be a great player.

Yet, I still reckon we should have signed another striker - particularly with Watt going out on loan.

I'm not disappointed. We've signed two Defenders, two Midfielders and two Strikers. See how they all settle in but I like what I've seen of Van Dijk and Boertigger and looking forward to seeing Biton and Pukki.

    Does he?

Thought the general concensus was he had done well the last couple of games.

    A bomb scare? Interesting analogy.

I always thought the term 'bomb scare' was applied to defenders who are prone to shipping goals, not young strikers who are still settling in a new country and have already been described as 'raw' by their own manager.

Balde will come good, I'm sure of it. He has all the attributes to be another Demba Ba or Papiss Cisse, just give him a couple of months to settle and at least get some decent game time under his belt. I don't think the guy has even completed a full 90 minutes yet and people are slagging him off already.

No dought a about it but then I would say we should have kept watt and the money for balde and used it on another striker balde just will never do it for me I'm sorry all for giving people a chance but how long do we give him???

It's clear aswell with commons in the team constant we never play 2 strikers... Who's going to be dropped for pukki and stokes to play together

How long do we give him? A full 90 minutes would be a start before we write him off. :smiley-laughing002:

How about until he actually completes a full competitive 90 minutes? :97:

In most of his appearances so far, he has brought on as a second half sub by Lennon, usually with 10-15 minutes to go. The lack of patience shown by football supporters at times is astounding.
