a striker is needed, maybe even two now..
we have no murphy, bangura or keatings!

we need a first team striker who can change it for us in europe, and possibly a team like uniteds kid talent on loan, just for support to have!

remember we only have Hooper Stokes Watt and Samaras now.

a CB would be priority, we need a decent 1st team player, someone experienced or someone whos going to be the next best thing, not another kelvin wilson.

Yeah I understand what you mean but finding quality players for 1 or 2 million is easier said than done. We have been fantastic in the transfer market in recent years but spending money just to appease the fans is a ridiculous business model.

Now if we get someone with genuine quality who will improve the team of course I will be delighted but I can't see anyone better than what we have coming for the money we have to offer.

Sorry for the doom and gloom boys but I never expected us to spend much this season anyway.

We could do with a striker but I wouldnt say one is "needed"

Bangura, Murphy and Keatings started about 3 games combined last season. So its not as if they'll be missed.

A few people dont want Russell purely because he plays with Dundee Utd. In case these people forgot, Scotland's POTY last season, we signed him from Aberdeen. Just because Russell is playing in the SPL doesn't automatically mean that he wont be able to make an impression in Europe. He has shown the last couple of seasons that he knows where the back of the net is, he is quick and is a tireless worker. I think he would work extremely well with Hooper.

With Murphy and Bangura gone out on loan I think we could do with a striker. Hooper is the main man. Stokes out injured, Watt still pretty raw and Samaras now essentially a wide man leaves us a bit light up top.

I honestly wouldn't mind seeing Russell come in. £2m is a decent price for someone who will guarantee goals domestically while still being young enough to improve. A lot of people will see him as an 'SPL striker', and so what? The SPL is our bread and butter and we can't turn our noses up at promising domestic talent.

We do need a centre-back. Too many have left and nobody has come in. Rogne is good, but still young. Wilson played well the other night, but still doesn't inspire too much confidence. Mulgrew has become an important player, but has been caught out a few times in Europe so far and may struggle against better quality.

Would love to see a big powerhouse in the mould of Balde who can be a huge presence and intimidate opposition forwards.

Both these types would improve our squad and would cost less than £5m.

I think Russell is a great wee player and he has actually been my choice striker for most of the window, but since seeing how well Tony Watt has done since coming in, I can't help but feel that if we are to get a striker in it needs to be someone experienced and different in playing style. If we got Russell in I would fear that Tony's development would be stunted slightly.

Firstly to start a new thread go to the main section and at the top of every page just to the left is the

[IMG] button. I think that is a big enough clue. :icon_mrgreen:

To get the full game someone needs to have uploaded it. Others have asked also about this but as yet no reply from one of our members who can do that sort of thing.

Personally I think these two could strike a great partnership and be our choice pairing in the future.

Good technically, great movement, pace and energy and know where the goal is. Both seem like the are intelligent players and could potentially link-up very well.

    I understand your point, though.

The more i think about it, why do we need a big target man. If we were to sign one, what games do we play him. Cause it sure as * wouldn't be in the SPL. Lennon seems to be trying to get us to get the ball down and play football, so unless we we find a big target man with good technique then it seems a bit pointless. Signing one to simply play him in Europe is complete nonsense and wont happen IMO. And big target men with good feet certainly dont come cheap. Daryl Murphy won nearly every header when he played but the fact of the matter is, he was utter garbage. Most teams in the world do not play with a target man so i dont really see why we need to.

It's a small worry, really, and I think you could be right. If given the chance I think they would be excellent together, but to drop Hooper would be madness right now. If we do sign Russell, and Hooper leaves in a few years as expected, then I think they could be our striking partnership for a long, long time.

    Both massive tims aswell :50:

Jamie Murphy and Johnny Russell would be nice and cheap and they are both scots. We need a Centre-back too. I think we need a CB,CM,LW,Striker before the window ends and we have a chance of making it to the last 16 but they have to be good. No panic buys for the sake of it, like Badr El Khadouri
