I won't have a choice but to be working at 80. There will be no pensions then.
    ...I'll be 80 in 2064

Not sure, apparently it's a 12 month contract he's getting here according to the article so seems a bit more than a commission based partnership.

Nah mate, I think you'll probably JUST make it - although it'll probably be means-tested to death... But the kids born 2015-now are probably *! No house equity, degraded pension schemes, * all chances of savings...

On this guy though, he's probably just touring about all the time like an old fashioned scout, taking in 100's of games in person, rather than the new guys with hundreds of hours of video... Don't see any harm in this. Doubt we're paying him * all anyway...

Its likely we're taking him on because of his contacts and the respect people have for him.

A few more years and he’ll maybe be old enough to get a seat on our board.

It's not about the age, though; it's about how up-to-date your ideas are. Marco Bielsa is almost 70 and I never felt he was out of touch with the modern game. Similar with Ranieri. Ancelotti is almost old enough to draw a pension too and he must be top 5 in the world. On the other hand, Roy Hodgson is only 8 years older and still has the same ideas he had in the 90s more or less.

Pleat has never struck me as being the kind of older manager who keeps up to date. Perhaps I'm wrong about that, I've never looked into it. It's just my impression.

    That's it who knows..

But, if we send him to run an 'eye test' over data driven potential signings. He's defintely experienced enough to spot a player.

When Tisdale was appointed I listened to one of the podcasts he had been on about the business of football and he had some different ideas about scouting, player recruitment and focusing resources.

I have no idea if he has worked with Pleat before but this appointment could be based on trusting his judgement more than who we currently have doing the role down there. I have no idea who is/are our main UK market scouts just now but the fact Tisdale wants Peat in says to me he thinks they are one of two things and that’s overstretched or not good enough at their job.

Time will tell, given it doesn’t look like we are getting Barry I wonder if there are any others operating at that level we would consider.

Cause once he stops, he will be wearing a wooden overcoat in no time.

Good luck to him at that age.

I hope he's wearing his glasses for this 'eye test' of potential signings. He's no got glasses in his picture.

And no falling asleep during the match or getting up to go to the toilet every 10 minutes. He's getting paid off Glorious Glasgow Celtic now. So he better do his job properly

I welcome this, need all the help we can get in the scouting department because unfortunately, Brendan doesn't have a great eye for a player as he's demonstrated throughout most of his managerial career, can't rely on Brendan to unearth gems the same way Ange did
