if you look on sky sports news today it says sunderland only want him for cover for the injured gordon . he wont go to sunderland to be a bench warmer . surely

 

I can't remember a time when people actually said he was a top 3 keeper. he has been a solid, but not class (Van der Sar, Given) keeper.

Just check out the england threads in the past few years when he got slated and now the same people want him to be at CP. I say it again, the english national keeper won't play for free and considering his age I think we could use the money way better.

Whats the latest with this story, are Celtic the only club he's been linked with or there a few in England that are after him.

He doesn't have to be one for the future, just a quality goalkeeper for this season only so we can wrest the title from rangers. Next season we can blood the likes of Cervi in competitive games.

 

because hes been in the EPL for 20+ YEARS,canny think of too many keepers thats been there for 10 years,never mind 20. still a class player...

 

Signing James can only improve our team. I see numerous posts mocking signings who are supposed to be 'one for the future' and yet there are people moaning that James isn't one for the future. Lets get a team on the park that can win the league and hopefully get us a run in Europe, be it the CL or EL.

The more we can reafirm our status around Europe the better chance we'll have of picking up better quality players in the future. For now, I want a team on the park for this season - not 2012-13, 2013-14 and beyond!!!

 

I really really don't want David James. He'll be an over paid keeper who is no better than Zaluska.

David James is a quality, quality keeper. I would prefer Westwood,as I think, long term, he can be as good as Shay Given, but I would take James in a heart beat, and sign Westwood on a pre contact in January!

I don't think we should sign James. To be honest I think Zaluska is an alright keeper and we should give him a chance. Give him this season, and if he's not as good as we think he should be, then maybe it's time to get a new keeper.

Let's think about it, Zaluska is probably looking forward to this season, thinking this is his time to prove himself. What will it do to his confidence seeing a 40-year old arrive at Parkhead and take his place?

Zaluska is out to prove himself so lets give him the chance to do that.

James would bring experience and help to solidify our new defense and then may stay as our goal keeping coach after 1 or 2 years,,,

Zaluska should be given a chance, i think he should def be given till January and if it's not working then get a new keeper

 

If Zaluska was playing in the premier league (english,) he would be sought after this transfer window. Just because he plays in Scotland, with Celtic, doesn't mean he's not a first class keeper. Let's give him a chance, and who knows, next season, if we want to sell him he could be worth millions. Not if he is sitting on the subs bench playing 2nd fiddle to an 'has been english goalkeeper'.

no harm to david james, aye he is first class keeper,but so is zaluska, how many of us were scunnered when we signed him, none of were, we all welcomed him with open arms didn't we, we loved the fact we had two holy goalies, to sign james, we would be looking at a weekly wage of how much ? £25,000, £30,000 p.w. .......... money that would be better spent imo on a decent striker or a centre half. Lets stick with zaluska, and bring in another good keeper, but cheaper than James.
