He could've gone on loan to somewhere that is equal to Millwall.

    It's a mental move.

Vata left us for first team football. He would’ve started for us last week and maeda would’ve been left wing instead
He was an unused sub for Watford last week and again today. Must be the Benjamin’s that’s driving them

    Doubt it's the money.

SSB yesterday was claiming we offered him 5k a week in the contract we put on the table.

Millwall average is only around 8k a week and Kevin Nisbet (just signed for the sheep?) was on 5k, so can't imagine Millwall will be paying him the 5k we offered.

Aye I would agree. I'm taking Rodgers at his word when he made comment of the two of them and where he was seeing them in the squad setup. Certainly seemed to rate him highly.

But we've had decades of not really giving youth a chance.
Again, I can understand Rodgers saying they need patience. But they've all watched plenty of their fellow youth talent get over looked and pushed down the pecking order by 1-2m punts we keep(kept?) signing.

I don't blame any of them for leaving us at this stage. I hope that changes though.

True mate but I think the reality of our season last year needs to be considered. If rodgers gave him more time over the likes of bernardo or Hatate coming back into the side and we dropped points while chasing the Huns in the league he would’ve been lynched. Even with the pressures of last season kelly still saw some game time. If he was to sign the contract he would’ve got a big chance to impress on the us tour also. Just feel like the lad was naieve to leave unless he’s going to start every game for millwall there is literally no benefit of the move imo anyway

Horrible football club had the displeasure of being dragged to many of their games as a boy.

Exactly. Rodgers says they need to be patient. Ange said almost the exact same thing when he was manager. Lennon undoubtedly said something similar. Over the past 5 years, how many youths have broken into our first 11? Zero.

Why would any young player ever stay here? Rangers are probably the only half decent team with a track record worse than us.

I'll just keep sticking him in for the team just to be even more annoying that normal.

DANIEL KELLY has opened up on his move from Celtic to Millwall.

The teenage midfielder penned a deal with the south London club on Friday night for an undisclosed fee - six months before he was poised to join the Lions for free.

Last month it was revealed Millwall were leading the chase for the youth prospect who was BINNED from the Hoops pre-season tour of America due to his ongoing contract stalemate.

Brendan Rodgers had drafted Kelly into the first-team at times last season - making six appearances in total.

But he was left grounded while the squad flew across the Atlantic for games against DC United, Manchester City and Chelsea.

The boss said he explained to the player's reps it would be "very, very difficult" to involve him with the top team while a "very good offer" remained unsigned on the table

And that is where his deal stayed as Kelly signed for the English Championship side after they agreed a fee to fast-track a move six-months early and fend off interest from Bayer Leverkusen.

The 18-year-old opened up on the possibilities ahead of him with Neil Harris' side - but sat out the 0-0 draw with Hull with paperwork not quite complete in time for the game.

But he said the player pathway at The New Den was a huge draw to follow the many Academy players making the breakthrough in Neil Harris' team and aims to follow them.

He told Millwall TV: "It's huge [to see Academy players break into the first team and learn from them].

"Especially to see a club where there's a pathway for anyone, really - being young or coming in similar age to myself.

It's the thing you want to see in a football club where there's a massive pathway for players to go on and succeed."

He seemed destined to succeed at Celtic after an impressive breakthrough under Brendan Rodgers and a goal on his league debut against Dundee in February.

But he opted to move and said: "I wish Celtic nothing but success in the future. There's a lot of great people there, I made some great friends, there are top coaches there as well so I wish them all the best.

Millwall's director of football Steve Gallen was delighted to sign the teenager who was once wanted by Arsenal before Celtic tied him down as a 16-year-old.

He said: "Daniel is a player that has been on the club’s radar for some time and highlighted to me upon my arrival.

"It’s been no secret that he’s attracted a lot of interest

We’ve been working on this deal all summer and we’re delighted that he sees his long-term future with Millwall.

"He’s exactly the type of profile we want to bring in. He’s a young box-to-box midfielder, athletic, dynamic and I feel he has a bright future and can add real quality to the squad.

"Daniel ticks a lot of boxes for us and I’m sure everybody joins me in wishing him the very best here."

Read between the lines, that sounds like half a pop at Celtic for the very thing most folk say as well, we have no pathway and no route that players feel any confidence in.
