Kids these days are being advised to chase a football career rather than their football dreams. Being in his position no amount of cash would have derailed me from playing for Celtic, the aim would be akin to that of what KT achieved

    Behave.

Who are they? Over a decade since we've had a first team regular from our development squad. Discounting Anges first season as he had no options.

Name one Celtic player, other than Johnston, that Rodgers can take credit for, would be the other question?

We have to be close to the worst club for playing youth in Europe.

Well name me how many of the highly touted youths who have supposedly left us where they’re playing now? And the size of club they’re at. The only one who went and done something at a bigger club for there 1st team and played was arguably Doak. Sure Rodgers gave Ralston his chance first time around and maybe Welsh both still there arguable if good enough but there.

    Dembele
    Morrison
    Kelly
    Moffat
    Brooks
    Hepburn
    Otoo
    Feruz
    Lawal

there is more look at the list above none have been even remotely good enough who have been pushing first team.

Actual I forgot about Tierney :56:

There are the Henderson brothers too.

Ralston was pre-Rodgers. Got his debut under Rodgers sure but Deila/Collins had developed him to that point. Don't think Welsh was anywhere near the squad when Rodgers was here last time.

We don't play our development players in any meaningful way. Ange didn't, other than the initial period and Rodgers won't.

And when we do they get no room from the fans. Johnston being the case in point.

Thought he looked the part in his cameo as well. He should do well down there.

All young prospects will leave and have been recently or wanting too.

Tells you one thing, we for some reason have no interest in playing them. Sad.

Tbf mate Ben doak would definitely have been given his chance but at 16 rather than stay at Celtic for a few seasons him and his agent wanted the big bucks straight away and that’s why he went to Liverpool, seems Kelly is following suit

Does seem odd. He definitely looked to be on his way to the first team at Liverpool. If it's due to being injury prone then going for the money early on looks to have been a sound decision.

That sort of risk is something these lads will only be too aware of. All will have seen the club drop their colleagus repeatedley over the years. We just don't offer enough of them much more than a place in our academy for a few years and then bin them. Easy to say they should stay for the badge but end of the day it's their life/career.

Millwall Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Daniel Kelly for an undisclosed fee from Celtic.
The highly-rated midfielder, who attracted a vast amount of interest over the summer, becomes The Lions’ seventh signing of the summer and arrives on a long-term deal at The Den.

The 18-year-old Scottish midfielder joins from The Bhoys having made six first-team appearances in the 2023/24 campaign, after his performances in Celtic’s B team caught the eye of manager Brendan Rodgers.

Featuring in the midfield in competitions such as the UEFA Youth League, Kelly played his part in The Celts' successful 2023 Glasgow Cup campaign.

A Scottish Premiership debut against Dundee also saw Daniel’s first goal for Celtic, as his late arrival into the box allowed him to fire home and open his account in green and white.

Kelly has represented his country on numerous occasions, across both the Under 18 and Under 19s sides.

Daniel is a player that has been on the club’s radar for some time and highlighted to me upon my arrival," said Steve Gallen, The Lions' Director of Football.

"It’s been no secret that he’s attracted a lot of interest," he added. "We’ve been working on this deal all summer and we’re delighted that he sees his long-term future with Millwall.

"He’s exactly the type of profile we want to bring in. He’s a young box-to-box midfielder, athletic, dynamic and I feel he has a bright future and can add real quality to the squad.

"Our aim and vision is to create assets for this football club and bring in younger players, as well as promoting players from our Academy.

"We want to make a team and club that is sustainable, exciting and developing lots of athletic type players over the next few years.

"Daniel ticks a lot of boxes for us and I’m sure everybody joins me in wishing him the very best here."

Daniel will not be a part of as The Lions' squad in Hull on Saturday as the deal was completed after Friday lunchtime's deadline, but he will look to feature at The Den next week

Depends on how much he plays. If he is playing every week he will probably be quite happy with the move. We will see how he does within the first season.
