its a huge commitment, first whos gonna look after it, clean it, feed it, walk it, train it?
I feed my dog a barf diet which stands for bones and raw food, it equates to about £7 a week, she gets mostly meat and bone which is chicken, lamb ribs, ox tail, liver, kidneys, lamb shanks, lamb necks, turkey legs, she also gets sardines. I pick all this up from the butchers and its fed raw.
Like I said earlier harsh trainin methods shouldn't be used, the relationship needs to be built on trust and respect.
The dog needs walked everyday, a bored dog will and does lead to problems.

I must be a different class of * then,I've got a staffie and an English bull hybrid and I used to own 2 pit bulls.I can't say I fit any of your other pre-conceived prejudices though,I don't shop at jjb and I'm in full time employment although if I thought they made me grow a foot I'd take them everywhere as I'm a lowly 5'7

Why do I? Prove me wrong then.

Really living up to the stereotypical dangerous dog owner, aren't you? Won't let your 'pride' go by admitting someone else is right, so you resort to a very playground like "you talk some *".

All dogs can be dangerous and should be raised in a good enviroment. Yes the more powerful dogs are tagged as the "evil" ones, Because they are the most dangerous.

I wouldn't leave my son alone with my parents Lhaso apso's dogs, Not because they are prone to anything, Just because it's irresponsible and he could easily aggravate them by doing something silly. It's just common sense.

All dogs should be kept on a leash outside of your property, With the exception of dog parks and fields. Ensures safety for all.

I love dogs myself and don't have issues with most, Some of the owners need a good kick up the * though.

The usual suspects always make the news.. No one seems to care if it's not one of them.

Not every murder or attempted murder is on the news, Neither will dog attacks.

Mate, I agree with what you are saying. I'm getting to grips with it and have even enrolled the help of a trainer to point me in the right direction once a week.

It was more for the girlfriend than me as I can take or leave animals. She seems to know what she's doing.

    Here he is...

Usually when someone claims someone else is talking "*" and doesn't elaborate on why it is "*" it means they are right.

    I'm not picky.
I'm not for banning any types of dogs and I believe that the majority of the times it's something to do with the owners of these dogs and how they are brought up/trained. It might not be the case all the time, but to be honest the way one of these dogs is trained and brought up can affect the way they behave in later life. If they are trained to be home guard dogs, for instance, then they are more prone to attacking people and if that's the case they should be muzzled when out. Actually to save any hassle maybe they should maybe be muzzled when out, period.

I think the media have a HUGE amount of say in the way that these dogs are portrayed as well though. They call them "devil dogs" and all this type of pish and the way they make them look then people will see one of these dogs and instantly think it's a bad dog. So a pit-bull attacks someone it's a "devil dog"...what does that make a jack russell if they attack and jack russell can be nippy wee * as well? It may be comical if they try and nip or bite an * but will it be funny if they do the same to a wee two-year-old?? The scenarios are usually portrayed different as well. A pit bull attacks then it's given instantly that the pit-bull is at fault but if a jack russell attacks then it will more than likely be that it must have been provoked because why else would a little "harmless" jack russell attack.

I believe that dogs like rottweiler's, pit-bulls, staffordshire bull terriers, bull mastifs etc can get a bad rap purely because of the way they look and the types of dogs that they are. There is a pit-bull owned by a guy a few doors down from me and to look at him you get the usual pit-bull stereotype thoughts but he's about as placid as a golden retriever. My wee niece's dad has a pit-bull or a bull terrier, but he's so placid as well.

Owner has to take a lot of the rap, because they are the * owner of the dog's.

THE diminutive jack russell terrier has made the top 10 most likely dog breeds to attack people - being responsible for more aggressive incidents than pitbull terriers and bull mastiffs.

The reason you havn't heard about it is because it's only pit/staffie/rottie etc that make the * tabloids and sell papers,Cesar Millan ,Im not a fan of his but one thing he got right was when he said "they used to blame the Alsatians, then they blamed the Doberman then they blamed the Rottweiller now they blame the Pit Bull, when are they going to blame the People?"He's absolutely correct.
