My initial opinion was that he is raw technically and poor on the ball and I doubt that will ever change.

But he brings a lot more. For me it was rhe wrong decision to start him centrally although clearly we felt Kyogo couldn't start.

But I just feel he offers more out wide particularly in these games. Tavernier was a big threat yesterday and Jota didn't provide that defensive cover.

Exactly how I saw it. I worried about Maeda starting through the middle but understand we were kind of forced to with GG being out and Kyogo only just back.

Maeda is fine against the lesser opponents but not against established teams.

Aye, Maeda was the problem this weekend. We simply can't be having a player putting their defence under great pressure, making them make mistakes, running in behind & not getting good service from midfield while expecting to win.

He offers nothing other than pressing is arguably the most laughable take I’ve read on here in a long time.

Aside from the fact that, that is utter nonsense one look at his end product tells the exact opposite story.

Its indisputable that he isnt the best technical player. I see both sides in that his running is an asset, but that his technical limitations may arise when playing a higher level opponent.

But i think that he will continue to improve and his effort has never been questioned.

For me another aspect that hurt us yesterday was because Giako was out and Maeda through the middle that meant less pressure on their right back and thus he got forward more even more so then when Taylor went off injured. Not Maeda's fault of course as he was playing through the middle but it was a miss for us. Especially in yesterdays game given how the match ups work Maeda being out wide pressing is so important IMHO

Starting him as a lone striker is never going to work out. When he's playing on the left and pushing up to harass them, he's far more effective. It also gives us something different on the wing to Jota, two very different players.

I've noticed for 2 game's straight against them that Bassey has overlapped too easily..

I think Maeda on the right alongside Ralston would be good for next week..

Jota hasn't been great but can still occupy Tavernier on the left..

    Absolute shitebag I’m afraid.

Takes a wee knock on the head and we’re up 2-0 and it’s all over.

The worst thing in football by a mile.

Set the goal but a headless chicken , what's the point praising his engine and desire when nothing comes of it , so frustrating and vastly overrated

Thought minus the sitters he was excellent. Didn't give their back 4 a moments peace.

Win as a team and draw or lose as a team. Should've scored yes, but the reason we didn't win, absolutely not.
