Daizen Maeda

Stepped up tonight in the absence of Kuhn. So vital to our team now that he has end product alongside work rate and super speed.

 

A nuisance as always

 

thought he was motm tonight 1 goal and an assist aswell as constantly harassing utd

 

Considering how much United sat back, I thought he was excellent.

He has 14 goals and 6 assists so far this season, overshadowed by Kuhn but he's been largely excellent.

 

Was one of our top performers tonight and with Kuhn out we really needed him to be good and he was.

 

Bit up and down for me the night. Great instincts for the goal and good finish, also some great defensive work. But a couple of the old clattering into folk carelessly die to just going flat out. * hate that about him

 

Overall, was my MOM, his passing was crisp and tracking back was good, sure he did clatter in to a few opposition players.

 

Tracking back is essential regardless of who we have at left back.

 

Of course it is but with someone capable of defending 1v1 we maybe wouldn't need someone as good as Maeda at that. Which was what the original point was

 

3 cigars at a time and still runs like a greyhound for 90mins.

 

He's having a great season. Hope he pulls a Kazuyoshi Miura and plays with us until he's 50.

 

Brendan confirmed he's out of tomorrow's game

 

Daizen has obviously played a lot of football and just felt something that he didn't want to aggravate. He's gone for a scan so it's not too serious but it just rules him out of this game.

 

I though I noticed him pull up toward the end of the game Wednesday night and given how much work and how much he has played recently makes sense to not risk him at all tomorrow.

 

Looked like he was rubbing his hip flexer at the end of the game.

 

Yes I saw that too. Had me worried at the time. Thankfully it is nothing serious but obviously no point in risking him at all tomorrow.
