Shouldn't play against parked buses. Any joy he got came from central runs , his wide play is non existent against that type of defence.

Can I be honest? For the first time maybe ever, I thought he looked knackered out there.

Poor today, but after the cup final performance he's allowed an off day, hopefully back to his best on Thursday.

Maeda is a very limited player but does have a couple of big strengths, generally against better teams we can high press and there space in behind on the counter - but that's it.
For that reason alone he's worth having.

Anything that requires strong technique, incisive passing, good decision making and game intelligence or beating a player from standing start - struggles big time
Simply cannot play against deep lying defensive teams.

Brendan needs to learn when to play Daizen and when not to.

In his defense. equally culpable are our tippy tappy, negative, non responsibility taking midfield players - their play is also hurting all of our forward players right now.
When everything is played at walking pace, dynamic players like Maeda and Kyogo really suffer.

He probably plays better through the middle against these teams.

If we had more strength in wide positions I don't think he would be playing in these type of games. Against low block teams in which defenders punt the ball as soon as they get it, most of his game is nullified. Problem we have at the moment is a lack of alternatives.

Very good cameo with a neat finish and unlucky not to have an assist.

Was good when he came on, took his goal well and probably should have had an assist.

He was absolutely amazing in that cameo today :56:

Came on and was firing in dangerous crosses, making dangerous runs and chasing back at everything like he’d been shot out of a cannon.

    Bodes very well for Thursday.

Imagine being a management team and seeing him getting stripped off and knowing you have folk like Propper wandering around aimlessly in yer defence. May as well give up.

His end product is mental considering you don't even really think about him like that, 62 goals and assists in 133 games for us, 1 every 2 games pretty much.

Even this season he's scored 13, only 1 less than Kuhn. Feels like Kuhns scoring for fun where as I don't even really think about Maeda scoring goals. He could end up with 25 goals this season.

Think his determination and attitude means he scores goals that some other players just wouldn't even get close to. He's absolutely deadly.

If you ever want a laugh just read some earlier comments about him on here. :BR1:

Aye a lot of his goals are weird ones, like headers, tap ins, balls being kicked off him, runs in behind more through the middle of a defence and 1 touch finishes.

Scores actually barely any typical right footer playing left-wing style goals. Kuhn's probably already scored about 10-15 goals for us cutting in on his left from the right, Maeda in 133 games probably doesn't even have 5 goals where he cut in from the right and scored. Did it once this season in a CL game, and once away to Hibs was it about 2 year ago.

Scores mostly striker type goals when you think of them.

Just shows you what perception is in relation to the reality. He’s having a superb season.
