I wish we were somehow fielding a team with 8 Maedas, 2 CCVs and Kasper. Ange or Klopp the manager. Gegenpressing out of this world.

Let's be honest if his technique and creativity was consistently a notch higher he wouldn't be here, his speed, stamina and workrate is better than most players, even in europe against quality teams. His engine is unreal, and he still has his best year in front of him to improve. I want him to retire here.

his technique for the first goal was outrageous ,that wee lift gave their keeper no chance .he has been brilliant for us since day one

I think he’s inconsistent with technique and improving every day, but to say that was poor technique on his first touch is unbelievably harsh.

Maeda was at full stretch and takes a dropping ball coming over his shoulder on the outside of his boot. It’s not a heavy touch at all for a striker at full stretch/pace because he takes his next touch which is his finish in full stride. Keeper gets stranded and defender can’t recover, it’s actually perfect.

Being inconsistent with technique means he doesn't have good technique. Even * footballers can make a good first touch here and there. The deciding factor is consistency.

I don’t necessarily agree with that. Technique can be lost under different conditions. For instance, technique can be lost under pressure.

Would anyone describe Jota’s technique as bad when he dinked the huns keeper? It was the exact same sequence, except the finish wasn’t a * over the keeper, Maeda dinked it around the keeper. Very similar first touches, full pace full stretch resulting in them both drawing the keeper.

Would give him a new improved 5-6 year deal instantly because we need him here untill he retires.

Speaking at Lennoxtown today, the boss admitted that after his brace last weekend, Daizen Maeda will be the third-choice centre-forward for 2024/25.

Rodgers said the club could still recruit someone in said area, but that other positions have greater priority at the minute.

“He’s (Maeda) played for me as a striker”, he told CeltsAreHere

With the two guys we have (Kyogo and Idah), I’m fairly comfortable that if I needed a third one, I can put him there and he’ll do the job.

I am a huge fan. Has to be one of the first names on the team sheet every week for me.

Can't disagree with that for this season. Also probably means we will see Mikey Johnston sold at some point over the next week given he seemed to be in contention for that third option up front role.
