Kyogo’s probably unlucky he’s in an era of lone strikers, because Kyogo in 442 big man, wee man days would be * sensational. More than we’ve seen from him even under Ange. He was a guy hanging off the shoulder, half the time offside, very few touches of the ball in the game until he scores. He’s a wonderful footballer though, he’s just not a focal point.

    * even if Rogic was still here who’d be the focal point high up the pitch and link with the striker, a proper old school AM number 10. That’s the problem just now, Idah aside, and Oh as well really but unreliably so, we have no guys happy to recieve the ball high up the pitch under pressure of defenders with their back to goal, and can turn quickly to attack the defence.

Aye Maeda a team that attacks loads of space, but not expected to reliably pass to a teammate as well:56:

Kyogo would be excellent in an old skool 4-4-2 with his little movements peeling off defenders. Iniesta loved him for a reason.

Always try and downplay the Larsson comparisons that he was getting last year a lot, because * being compared to Larsson never going to look good with that but in a similar way, imagine him next to a Chris Sutton. Or even big Jan.

    * even the 352 under Lenny the 9 in a row season, in Griffiths role next to a fully firing Eddy. With a motivated Ntcham supporting them, and McGregor an 8.

He’d thrive on that, and you’d see all aspects of his game. * he had two games behind Idah, 2 goals, when he was struggling to make an impact before. As the loan man expected to be the focal point though, he’s onto a losing battle. If we have him up there on his own, it’s vital he has support around him, and players that are taking the ball in and turning to attack and pick him out and not what we’ve been doing so far.

Tbf I think it's harsh to compare anyone to Larsson anyway haha guy was just on another level even to your Dembele's, Hooper's and Edouard's.

Yeah I agree about the sole frontman thing though it's not because I think Kyogo is without technical ability, he's shown he has it at times to link up superbly, it's just...he's usually outmuscled off the ball before he can even do anything on it. Which kinda circles us back to the Moriyasu selection thing haha

Aye exactly my point that, can remember Celtic TV putting up clips of both comparing when the talk about Kyogo and Larsson was at its height and was just thinking come on man, he’s brilliant but nobody is Henke and don’t make Kyogo need to live upto him.

Aye that’s it exactly, either need to work the ball up the pitch until you pick him out when its in the final 3rd or look for the early ball in behind into space. Trying to get him to play with his back to goal isn’t something he’s capable of. Behind Idah interesting enough, he was as good at picking out spaces infront of the defenders as he is at the space in behind, but Idah was occupying two CB’s so he could. The dropping back experiment as the lone man we had for a while was trying to have that, while being the guy occupying the defence. Basically tried to play him like he did Eddy.

That’s what he played at Vissel Kobe, he was never a loan striker before he came here. When they played 4-2-3-1 he played off the left.

His games as striker were either 4-4-2 diamond, or 4-4-2 with a double pivot and two wide players.

He worked as a loan striker in Ange’s system, as like Haaland does in Peps team, because they are given a very specific role which is to find space to put the ball in the net, your not involved in build up or play generally your role is be there to finish off moves.

You saw that overtime with Kyogo. His first season, I would argue when he first came in that he looked a more all round striker than he did when he played in the finisher role in the second. However for the team he got 30 plus goals and fired us to a treble, the first season he was on track to hit similar numbers before his injury but was the only man in that team for a lot of that first half of Ange season 1.

Said same last season about rogic and it amazes me more that kyogo still managed 34 goals and a month or so out injured.
Lethal finishing and it improved a lot from season before.
He needs support and he's not getting it
