I can’t believe we gave him a new contract. He genuinely had about a 6-8 week spell last season post World Cup when he was decent with the rest of the season being largely rotten.

For me he is one of those players you cash in on when his stock was high.

 

He should be embarrassed by that performance...looked like a Sunday league player. No 1st touch until he tried to run at people then touched the ball bcoz he never actually had control of it.

 

The thing is, when Rodgers originally came in, the general consensus was Maeda's time was up, he's never Rodgers sort of player, to give him a new 5 year deal was madness.

He just about worked in Ange's system, and he looked OK under Rodgers in pre-season, but he isn't good enough.

Back-up ST at most, even then I'd be looking at moving him on within the next two windows, take whatever offer we get.
