Although his pace is obviously a massive plus point to his game, I think there were definitely times under Ange where he's going full pelt at everything and his end product and control suffers because of it, if he can just take his foot off the gas a wee bit at the right moments and be a bit more composed he'll really go up a level imo. Forget he's only 25 sometimes, still plenty of room to develop.

Missed it live, but unlucky not to have another first half hat trick, going by the highlights.

So much better centrally, be interesting to see if Rodgers tweaks it, said the same in the Kyogo thread he accommodated Dembele and Edouard.. Wonder if we'll see Meada and Kyogo closer together with one or the other slightly on the left..

Hopefully see them both start v Wolves.

    I think we might.

Might be wrong but didn’t Rodgers play a 442 with Leicester often? Sure Iheanacho and Vardy played as a two quite a lot.

Suppose it would be more like a 424 for us domestically.

Maeda and Kyogo up top. Abada on the right and maybe a left footed winger on the left…

I was thinking that as well, he played 442 a lot at Leicester with Vardy and Iheanacho up top. Think we'll see it a fair bit this year.

Pretty sure their best seasons with Rodgers they played that way.

I'm absolutely choking to see Kyogo and Oh up top in Scotland. We're above needing to control the midfield when most teams just sit in. In Europe, a defensive variant with Maeda and Kyogo would paralyze any attempt to beat us with fancy passes.

Hatate and McGregor definitely have big enough engines to play a 4-4-2 formation..

Looking forward to see some different variations from Rodgers, which we really didn't get with Ange.

So obvious even from that video how much more effective he is through the middle.

Some amount of headers he nabs there.

He never really got a big chance as our centre forward. His work rate and pace get rightly praised but his intelligent movement doesn’t get spoken about enough.

He still needs to work hard at the technical side of his game but he can definitely be a centre forward option for us. He would actually be the perfect person to play up top in a two given his engine and work rate to cover ground.

Consistency is what he needs to bring to his game, when you think about last season Maeda had a slow start, done well post World Cup through to about end of February then fell off again. If he is going to compete to be a starting striker for us, he will need to be more consistent but I have no doubt he would get 20 goals if he started more through the middle.

The challenge is fitting everyone in as Kyogo is definitely best as the main man up top not playing off a striker. It would be interesting to see Maeda and Oh up top together.

My favourite player. He always looks happy as well. When he first signed I thought that he would terrorize goalies and he does.

His main asset at CF is that he can effectively prevent the opposition from building attacks through the GK and centre backs. Secondarily, he's a massive threat on the counter. Would Rodgers be willing to have us play long passes from the back and fish for a defensive lapse that lets Maeda go through on goal? In Europe, it should be done, even if Kyogo is playing, let alone Maeda.

He reminds me of Samaras in the sense he always gives 500% when he puts on the Jersey

He’s that quick he was in the crowd applauding his goal 5 minutes before he scored.

    Hail Hail.
