I didn’t think he looked fit against Hibs at the weekend. He didn’t have the same pace and tireless running as he normally does. Hopefully he doesn’t aggravate it playing in international friendlies.

Japanese media were reporting he missed training and wouldn't be playing today.

Looks like he's on the bench to me ?

Should have never been called up if he was still struggling with that injury against Hearts

Celtic forward Daizen Maeda reveals why he has left Japan camp - 'I would rather return to the team'

Daizen Maeda has joined his Celtic team-mate Anthony Ralston in withdrawing from his international team.

The 25-year-old forward was an unused substitute for Japan’s 1-1 draw against Uruguay on Thursday and will play no part in Tuesday’s match in Osaka against Colombia, instead returning for treatment on an injury. He is the second Celtic player to pull out of the national squad on Sunday after defender Anthony Ralston left the Scotland camp.

Maeda revealed that it was his call to head back to Scotland from Asia. “I would rather return to the team and prepare for the league match than remain in the national team,” Maeda told Japanese media. “There are things I can't get unless I come here. I was inspired by the top Japanese players. Although I was withdrawn, I performed well at the club and will be representing again in June, I want to come back during the period."

He says he was withdrawn, yet it was his call to come back. Must be that injury he had a few weeks ago was not fully cleared, if any injury is the cause of this withdrawal.

Kewell's role at Parkhead involves working with players one-on-one and someone who has benefitted from this close contact coaching.

The former Liverpool man has opened up on the dynamic he has with the Japan international.

"With Daizen (Maeda), he’s a very good listener and learner. What you say to him, he’ll listen and take it on board," he continued.

"It is not about: ‘I’m the coach, you’re the player, you listen to what I say’. No, no, no.

"We’re just in an environment here to have a chat. I’m going to say something that’s completely wrong but I want to see if you pick up on it, because that means you're going to be confident enough to be able to go: ‘I don’t agree with that’.

"Then I know that they’re listening."

Just sounds like his options were to get treatment with the national squad or at home and he decided to do it in Scotland instead... Sensible enough to remove the travel fatigue consideration if he can.

Don't think there's much in this 'story' if I'm honest

Surprised he would have travelled if he knew he was carrying an injury as its a long way to go.

at least he hasnt aggravated it though.

    the big man?

surely he's the wee man. If he's the big man to you then you must be about 4 and a half foot tall

He’s a very difficult watch at times. Has loads of incredible attributes, but his technique, composure, close control, and weight of pass are all absolutely dreadful.
