To be fair if he stayed onside he'd never have got to the ball anyway. Will give him confidence.

Decent glancing header there, unlucky not to hit the target.

I'm sure he likes this role more, as target for counterattacks. In Scotland, he has no space.

It's actually ridiculous, even if we played a half pitch they'd sit back.

Was quality when he was on i thought. Caused Germany a lot of problems and just slightly too eager with his run for the offside goal..

Germany v Japan - would not have happened in the 40s. Just a thought.

Thought he played very well, caused a lot of problems for the German defence.

I was surprised he was picked to start to be honest though, it was a strange starting 11 they put out. Regular starters like Asano, Minamino, Tomiyasu and Mitoma all started on the bench, but made a huge difference in the second half.
Goes to show the depth of talent Japan have, and why the likes of Kyogo and Hatate can’t even make the squad.

That game was crying out for him today.. glad they got pumped! Also, Hatate would have destroyed their midfield today too, hope they get walloped by Spain..

Can't say I want them to see them get pumped. Seem like a good set of lads and our football relations with Japan have served us well along with any of our players who represent them.

Hatate might not have made a difference either tbh. Kamada is no mug and he really struggled.
