they are struggling in the championship mate whatever way you look at it.

Your right about miller though, 30 appearances 4 goals.

But Miller's been * until this season. On his current form he'd be scoring in the EPL. Remember he was quality for Wolves.

Possibly but we'll never know that, defenders down there are better than the ones he faces up here i would think.

He was very good for Wolves though. I think the SPL is a place that is great for poachers like Boyd and Miller, who have little else to their game. For players like Samaras and Fortune, who are more about taking men on and link-up play, they don't tend to perform that much better up there than in the EPL.

But that's the point. We can only judge on a team by team, game by game basis. As soon as you start talking about "sustained throughout campaign" it would be unfair to a) assume that magically these teams would suddenly become much better, b) assume that we'd magically become much worse and c) ignore the £40m+ guaranteed income (60% of our ENTIRE TURNOVER) that would improve our squad over the course of the season significantly.

But considering we'd now be able to attract the Van Der Vaarts, Mikel Arteta's and Ashley Young's (maybe even better calibre of player too) we also have significant advantages over Villa/Everton/Spurs of this world with the size of our stadium. These clubs including Liverpool/Arsenal have fought tooth and nail to increase capacity size and our merchandising would be even greater. We would be in a better financial position than Villa/Everton/Spurs.

Going back to simple terms, if you would rank each club on one off performances, we'd be somewhere just behind the big 5 but with the potential at the same time for much more, but much less as well (Newcastle/Leeds style). Could never see us doing such a financial nose-dive under Lawwell though...

Must say I'm finding some comments in this thread Andy Gray-esque...

mmikey the question is where do you think the current celtic team would finish in the EPL ,IMO we'd be in a relegation battle finishing 15th downwards i know dam well with the money side of things within a few years we'd be right up there but thats not what im basing my answer on because its not the question.

    Douglas
    Joos Balde Mjallby
    D.Agathe ---------- Thommo
    Lambert Lennon Petrov
    Sutton Larsson

    Top 4 finish, EASILY.

    -------------------------------------

    Forster
    Wilson Rogne Danny Izzy
    Brown Kayal Juarez Ledley
    McCourt
    Samaras

    Just below mid table IMO.

The money is a little side thing and if you want can be ignored for the purpose of this thread (but in theory is highly significant)

Strictly being specific to our current squad without additions, on paper (and this can only ever be on paper) we are superior to at least 10 sides.

Obviously we're not a patch on the current top 5, Spurs have introduced far too much quality so for me that area is impossible (with our current squad).

But look at the current EPL 6, 7 and 8: Sunderland, Bolton, Stoke. We're better than that I can assure you.

MON'S Team top 4. Nah. Sorry. You're thinking we done well against some of the sides from England we faced in Europe. But every game was and is difficult in the prem. They'd have been top 7 but not top 4

MON's team are by far better than Sunderland etc just now and they're sitting 6th in the table. How far did Villa go in europe this season? They finished 7th in the EPL table last year? MON's team would have taken the prem by storm, the only thing that would have been bother was probably the squad size.

naw, I'm asking someone else how he thought that Celtic now are stronger than those teams now. Not MON'S. You quoted my question to someone else.

That proves very little (how far Villa go in Europe) they just changed manager bla bla bla. The fact is, every game would have been a right challenge. They would be going to near full grounds all the time. Yes they done well in Europe. But they would be having the equivalent of a very hard euro game weekly

How many Celtic fans would take Phil Bardsley at RB?
    Titus Bramble at CB?
    Even Antoin Ferdinand isn't great.

Bruce has got them playing fantasticly well as a team, and are depending heavily on Bent and Gyan - but it's been one of the poorest EPL's of recent times and I for one would relish a game against Sunderland. No way would they push us over.

:56: not being funny mate. But you're not clued up on us really. You're going on reputations and perceptions instead of how they've been playing. Don't do that if you want to be correct. The fact is, those defensive players have been solid, solid performers for us this season. Poorest, EPL, or closest?

Oh and Onouha is our RB. Bardo is not first choice LB.but has took his chance in the side now

Awwwwwright soz mate. I still think we'd have taken the prem by storm but. Sutton, Hartson, Thompson, Lennon all achieved high things down south when they played there. Maybe Thommo was unlucky not to get a trophy but he still got to a major final. Also Petrov has done brilliant down south just now. Maybe apart from this year so far. Larsson done great with Man United for the short time he was there, and with Barca there's no question how well he done. Lambert aswell would've coped easily in the prem. I think MON's team would've thrived in the EPL.

Nah you're right I'm not that clued up on Sunderland but can't help but feel you're underestimating "us" and overestimating "you"....
