He * it by playing in some stupid international tournament instead of playing in the CL qualifiers

 

Cristian Gamboa's current situation with Scotland's Celtic isalready a concern for the national team.

A few months after the debut in the 2018 World Cup of Russia, the fast side has not the desired regularity in the old continent.

Gamboa usually does not enter the calls and usually sees green and white club games from the stands and even from home.

"Of all, the one who worries and occupies us is Gamboa , who does not compete or play," said Luis Antonio Marín, on the program of the Costa Rican Football Federation (Fedefútbol).

Some time ago the footballer had recognized that attending the Gold Cup 2017 in the United States had taken his toll and therefore the lack of minutes.

So far in the 2017-2018 season, counting League games, Cup and Champions, the Costa Rican has only seen action in 2 games for a total of 170 minutes.

 

Wouldn't be shocked if an MLS side came calling. Best to just get him off the wage bill at this point, as it's clear Ralston is seen as the next best behind Lustig.

 

What a waste really, impressed in most domestic games and suits our style a lot better than Lustig. Given a few months in the first team I think he would of been a lot better in Europe than getting thrown in against Neymar in his first game and Coman in one of his only appearances this season.

Dissapointed with Rodgers in regards to this.

 

Really liked the guy, been criminally underused by Brendan

 

I was always hoping he was going to turn out like the right-back Izaguirre. Once again though he never got a chance at all. How your supposed to show your potential when your randomly flung in against Neymar and expected to pull a performance out of the hat is beyond me. Man should have had a run of games and given the proper chance to show what he could do. I'm sure he'll be offloaded at the first opportunity.

Don't get this.

Gamboa is pretty obviously focused on country and the World Cup (his choice and hard to blame him for) but that does nothing for Celtic.

Why would we play him ever? Best to offload him if we can.

 

As far as I remember it was the Gold Cup, the most important CONCACAF competition and the second biggest tournament his country has a chance to play in. It was a quite relevant competition, and he was still back up to Lustig. In the end he wouldn't have played anyway. I think it's incredibly petty to boycott a decent player for such a reason.

 

We really should be looking to give this guy a run in the team, unless there's something going on we don't know about.

 

If he doesn’t feature today after Lustig’s performance on Tuesday night then it’s not looking good. He’s impressed me when I’ve seen him and I’d give him a run

 

I think we’ll play 3 at the back today with no RBs..

 

Back 5 is better, if possible, since he will have more cover. He's a very attacking wide player.

 

Really do not understand Brendan's logic on this situation. He's a guy who has be a generally decent player apart from games against two top-5 sides in world football in Barcelona and Bayern.

Apart from that, he's looked like the type of player Rodgers would love to have in the side. Can't understand why he isn't getting a shot.

He was actually one of the positives today, loved seeing him taking his man on a few times.

 

Agreed. One thing you can't fault him on is his effort.

We're far too 1-dimensional & predictable with Lustig on the right, the opposing player knows he only needs mark the RW as he's never going to be taken on by Mika.

 

Dont know what the deal is with Gamboa, he has everything you think Brendan would want in a full back, aside from the European pumpings i have been very impressed with Gamboa, due to Lustig ongoing issue with Achillies and his overall dip in form this season Gamboa would be starting for me.
