He seems so fast but my initial impression is that he doesn't offer much more. I was wrong about Dembele so hopefully I'm wrong about him.

Never like to slate one of our own when they are just through the door. But can't see it happening for the guy, same, hope I'm wrong.

Why did this lad not replace Lustig today? Maybe what you said is why?

Lack of confidence in the player from Brendan?

    Blow for Gamboa's self belief?

Is Gamboa more of a RWB/RM?

Too early to be slating Gamboa IMO. I think he's lacking match practice and is still getting used to playing with his team mates; he has also been used fairly sporadically since he has been here so he hasn't really had a run of games to get him up to speed.

Given time I think he'll be a good signing as he's got the physical attributes to be a good modern full back. He just needs to get used to our tactics and get his match sharpness back with regards to defending; he also looks low on confidence.

    I think so.
His main weakness at full back to date is he is too easily turned inside.Billy King showed that at Inverness.
And to play the RWB/RM roles successfully you need both discipline and positional awareness.
So I don't know. At this moment in time I would prefer Armstrong at right back.

FOR Cristian Gamboa, Celtic’s spirited draw away to Borussia Monchengladbach was not just evidence of the club’s growing maturity in the UEFA Champions League – it was also a source of personal redemption.

The Costa Rican internationalist made his Hoops bow in the Nou Camp back in September as the Hoops suffered their heaviest-ever European defeat against a brilliant Barcelona team in their opening group game.

It was difficult baptism to life in Paradise for the 27-year-old, who was still building up his match sharpness and adjusting to Celtic’s style of play following his move from West Bromwich Albion.

But two months down the line, an upbeat Gamboa is feeling fitter and more accustomed to how Brendan Rodgers’ team operates.

“When I came here I hadn’t played many minutes so I have tried to build myself and prove myself,” he told this week’s Celtic View in an exclusive interview. “I feel good and happy for my team-mates and it was a good result for us. It could be better but everything is positive.

“That was my seventh game for the club and I feel good. I am working on my fitness and you could see I was a bit better with that in Germany as I adapt to the way we play. I have been here two months and I am trying to take these ideas on board.

“Now, I know how we play and the gaffer has helped build my performance and how we play at Celtic, and I showed a bit of that against Borussia.

“I showed that I could play on a good stage and in a good game and these are the matches you want to be involved in. The gaffer gave me a chance so I tried to prove myself and everything went well, and I hope to progress in a good way now.

“I feel good here with my team-mates and everyone has tried to help me feel settled here along with my family. It’s good to be at Celtic.”

It’s also been a time of change off the park for Gamboa as he settles into a new life in Glasgow with his young family, not to mention becoming a father for the second time in recent weeks following the birth of baby Julian.

But his wife Melissa has taken the brunt of the sleepless nights to ensure he can fully focus on his football.

“It’s been really busy but it’s good,” he said. “My family are well and my baby is half Scottish and half Costa Rican and is already a Celtic supporter! Everything is good here and it feels like home. For me, I just need to try and develop and perform in a good way. Everything is going well.

“My wife has helped me a lot and she has taken care of the two guys. She always tells me to try and sleep and recover as she knows when I am playing. She helps me to perform on the pitch – she is the man in the house, she helps me with everything!”

Not in CR squad tonight; not even on bench. Wonder if he was released early to play on Friday?

Edit: just read elsewhere he was booked on Friday, and is suspended for this match. Maybe he still is coming home early?

Not a word about him yet, but he did well tonight.

Great anticipation on Griffiths' goal and he was pressing all night. From what we've seen, he seems like he likes to attack and get on the front foot whenever possible. His defensive ability is still to be decided, but I think it's clear he's fast and attack minded. Give him more game time and lets see if he's a worthy challenge to Lustig.

It's a good balance when both he and Lustig are covering the right half of the pitch. It allows the likes of Armstrong much more freedom to move and we saw that last night.
