I thought he was a * goalie for us. I must have been watching the wrong guy lol

That was down to his dislike of us which was obvious. Started playing for a hun club and all of a sudden turns to Gianluugi with fire of hate in his eyes every time Hearts play us.

    * him

He doesn't punch the ball at all, it hits the side of his arm as he punches someone in the face.

If CCV went for the ball and headed a player and it hit him afterwards, yes it would be a penalty.

At least we now know why he never left his 6 yard box when playing for us. He's * when he comes out.
Flaps, drops crosses and now seemingly thinks it's alright to punch through opponents, while bending.

Keepers are allowed to lunch the ball, but it's generally expected that's when they are jumping and pushing up and away.

Gordon was punching at should height.

Penalty all day, endangering an opponent.

If McGregor done that against us, we would demand a red card.

He's not as great a keeper as made out. Folk living in his first stint at hearts and the move he got to *check notes* Sunderland of all places.

He's * and a * and I don't actually care he cheated on his wife.

We would have the same amount of titles with another keeper. Dont prove * :56:

Forster and even Hart are much better. And both of them likes Celtic which I highly doubt Gordon ever did.

I'll give you Forster all day long; but I don't personally think Hart (as he was at Celtic) was a better goalkeeper than Gordon TBH. It's true that Hart offered leadership that Gordon never had and no doubt Hart in his prime was probably better than Gordon; but as goalkeepers at Celtic, I'd put them in roughly the same bracket (i.e. well behind Forster and Boruc but way ahead of most of the keepers I've seen at Celtic over the years).

That's bollocks. When we pulled Gordon out from his hun-rehabilitation we were struggling to get any quality in that position. Usual penny pinching. Gordon was excellent, if flawed for us. Made a massive difference to our squad.

Just have to look at the backups to him to know that.

Fair enough Foster and Hart definitely better players but nowhere close to what we had at the time.

I don't care at all Gordon supports Hearts above us. School yard pish, which we complain if it's the opposite way around.

Did he ever not try his hardest for us? That's what matters. Might have happened, but I certainly don't remember it.

Although a sore one for Gordon not going to euros it’s the correct decision, out of the goalies there Gordon was the one least likely to play for Scotland in future so give the rest that big tournament experience that may help them in future.

and while here thanks Craig Gordon you were a good steadying influence for a few years at the heart of our defence even if your actual heart never left tynecastle.

Same with wgs, it's lazy to just trott out the "some Celtic fans can't accept he wasn't a Celtic fan"

    Doesn't matter *.

He's not as good as fawned over, had massive issues, cost us majorly at times and glad when he finally * off.

As said, we would have won the vast majority of the trophies with or without him.
At one stage, we, collectively, had a debate about Bain deserving a chance while he was here.
That discussion never came up during Hart time, because there was just never a need to discuss alternatives in that sense.

Gordon refused to leave his line/6 yard box, something almost every opponent knew and thus would drop crosses on the edge of the 6 yard box, knowing he doesn't come out for them.
He regularly got beat at his near post, to the point it was funny.
He had issues with saving a penalty - he eventually saved one was it in all his time?
No command of his area or leadership, a basic quality you sort of need in a keeper.

Not that I want to belittle our collective achievements during a dominant period, but he was the keeper while we had no real competition for the league. Hardly needed to be world class to do the job he was asked to do.

We must be a bawhair away from some fans using his trophy haul and that picture of him on his knees and arms in the air to declare him a * legend.

I always viewed it as we won despite having him rather than because we had him. If we didn't get Forster on loan, do we win that season easily, no. I'm certain we lose the League cup final with him Gordon in goal.

He was a solid cheap replacement but he should have been replaced after 2 years.

There was a reason Rodgers tried to replace him on more than one occasion. Remember Bain toon his place. Bain a guy who people want shift of now. I think the reality is Barkas makes people remember him fondly. Gordon was 3rd choice here.

In Europe he was an absolute bombscare. The amount of goals he would cost us. He would cost us in the league too but often his dodgy keeping was saved by us scoring.

As you mention he was * at crosses outside the 6 yard box, didn't command the defence and couldn't close down space if a player was through. Then his distribution, * me. He was solid enough at making saves but I often felt he tried his best to make basic saves look like ones only he could make.

Also 75 caps, never played in a tournament and never part of a starting 11 that qualified either. Marshall and Gunn have done that.

    All agreed, obviously.

As we say, Bain was genuinely debated as a better option at one point

Same Bain who struggled at first when here and looks like he's only kept around for a "quota" now. That Bain was challenging Gordon. Says it all.

You're right about barkas as well, as much as I wanted him to succeed here, he probably makes people remember Gordon a bit more fondly. Not as bad as barkas, so must have been alright.

But some genuinely talk about Gordon in the same bracket as Boruc and Forster.
When the reality is, he's down there with Douglas.

Still can't believe he was our no 1 for so long ... absolutely hopeless ... and a greeting-faced * to boot. Can't think of many keepers who kicked as poorly as him ... straight into the stands half the time.

It's blatant revisionism to argue he was * when he was first-choice keeper for 5 years. We knocked back two bids from Chelsea during that time and he managed 75 caps. Obviously a good keeper for us, but he * up in high-profile games and wasn't as good as Forster. If he wasn't so enthusiastic a hun we'd be saying nothing other than good career and best of luck.

Hes just not very likeable regardless of how good he was or wasn't. It just happens with some players.
