Never understood the hate for CG on here from some. Yes, he has a certain arrogance about him, and yes, he was never that far away from a goal-keeping brain-fart when given time to make a decision, but he was otherwise a VERY good goalkeeper and good servant to the club.

Howler of an injury - gutted for him.

Looks like he was going out for the ball, saw Fletcher baring down on him at speed not looking at where he was running, realised an inevitable collision was about to happen and tried to pull out, (in vain) to protect himself. That or he realised Fletcher was going to colide with him and his body reacted instinctively.

Judging from the comments, am glad I can't see it.

Hope they are able to fix it and wish him a speedy recovery, but the truth is at his age it could be the end.

Never hated him- it seems really bad, and will ruin his Christmas. Career was ending soon-ish anyway, but * breaking a leg.

I mean, if we’re honest, the bit in bold will answer your question. Decent goalkeeper, but a *. Not as good as he thought.

That said, I hope he recovers soon and wish him well in retirement.

Edit: should add that the gif of him from the invincible treble will live long in the memory.

I think fletcher should be banned he’s went In with excessive force he’s managed to break another players leg with a kick . a leg that was in mid air wasn’t planted so gotta think how hard did he go in to manage to snap that leg in the first place

I don't think that was a red card, a yellow at most. I think what does lots of the damage is Gordon flying into Fletcher.

They flew into each other, Gordon saw it coming so his body (visibly) tensed up which will be part of the reason he came off worse.

Tbh he doesn’t though he went into a space to block the ball he anticipates fletcher coming in you see Gordon go into a fetal position mid air anticipating the contact

Left his wife for that wee cow that done our media. * him. Bad things happen to bad people. No time for cheaters and people who have affairs.

He was married and not split up at the time. So as the poster said. Dirty cheating *.

Well that's probably his career over. Did a good job for us, although like many I was never keen on him.

The pearl clutching over Gordon's private life is weird. Until informed otherwise it can be safely assumed the majority of top footballers are or have cheated on their significant others.

My family know Craig’s ex wife. He was cheating on her.

And it’s far from weird. If you’re quite happy to have an affair behind the back of someone who’s given you two kids and been with you every step of the way, it shows the type of person you are. An arrogant * who thinks they can do better.

Acting like a sanctimonious granny about what one specific footballer does in his private life when we all know most of them are at it, is weird. Sorry to be the one to say it. They are rich men with egos who are being pursued all the time. Few are turning those offers done. I can assure you.

As others have sensibly put - you wouldn’t wish this injury on anybody, and it’s going to be incredibly difficult to return from this for him.

I always felt he CG was quite risk averse as a keeper, and looked really out of his comfort zone either playing out from the back or sweeping up behind the defence.

If I remember correctly, didn’t he almost decapitate an Alloa forward with a karate kick and was fortunate not to get a red card??

I can’t help thing if he was a bit braver and positioned higher in his area, he would have been better able to clear and this horrific injury wouldn’t have occurred.
