CRAIG Gordon will make his 200th appearance for Celtic tonight against Dundee after completing his comeback from a knee injury which had sidelined him since the end of January.

And the 35-year-old will be determined to mark his memorable milestone with a positive result and his 100th clean sheet for the club. The Scotland internationalist replaces Scott Bain between the sticks, with the on-loan 26-year-old ineligible to play against his parent club.

 

Incredible from a free transfer and being out of football for 2-3years. Has been a great signing overall.

BR on Craig Gordon reaching a double century of games for Celtic: "It’s a great statistic for him, considering a few years ago he thought he was maybe done. It was absolutely great to have him back. He was back early and he never looked like he had been away

BR: "He was very alert. He was excellent, and you would have never thought he had been out for that period of time."

BR: "He has worked very hard on his rehabilitation. He’s a fit guy anyway and he really looks after his body. He showed no nerves and he picked his passes at the right moments. What he had to do, he did very well.”

CG: “It’s a clean sheet. I thought we handled their attack fairly well, especially in the second half. From that point of view, we’re happy with that. But we obviously didn’t get the goal that would have won us the game.”

CG: “I was stuck on 199 appearances and 99 clean sheets so there were a few months of waiting to try and get back and get the two milestones."

CG: “To do it in the same game is very satisfying for me. A 50% cleansheet record is a great record for any goalkeeper in any club in any league so I’m delighted with that."

CG: “It was great to get back only nine and a half weeks after the injury which looked to be at the time, after the scans, a lot longer than that.

CG: “I’m 35 now, when these things come along, even if the worst case scenario is career ending, I’ve still done remarkably well to come back. It’s easier for me now."

CG: “Whenever that time comes and it’s the end of my career, whether it’s through choice or an injury, it probably doesn’t hold as much weight as what it would to someone else because I’ve already been there and managed to come back from it."

CG: “I probably didn’t think it would be possible to play 200 games for Celtic. I hoped it would be but that was probably beyond my expectations when I came here."

CG: “Scott’s been in the team over the last two or three games. He’s had a couple of clean sheets and a few decent performances so I’ll need to work hard."

 

A 50% clean sheet record over 200 games, from a goalkeeper whom we signed on a free transfer, is fantastic, to be fair.
