Man City would have to pay 3/4 of his wages and he's have to take a wage cut.

Since he's a Cardiff fan and his family lives here. Not beyond the realms of possibility.

Craig Bellamy says he could quit football if he fails to make Manchester City's 25-man squad for this season.

New rules mean each Premier League squad must now be capped, and the Wales captain feels he is not certain to be registered by manager Roberto Mancini.

"If I don't get in the squad I don't know what I will do," said 31-year-old Bellamy, who revealed he has rejected an offer to join German club Wolfsburg.

"I might finish, full stop. Or look at every option. This game is ruthless."

Striker Bellamy - who is set to win his 59th international cap on Wednesday when Wales take on Luxembourg in a friendly in Llanelli - has rich competition in the forward department at Eastlands.

Emmanuel Adebayor and Carlos Tevez are considered lead centre forwards while City boss Mancini has Paraguay star Roque Santa Cruz and Brazilian international Jo at his disposal, and is also looking to add exciting young Italian forward Mario Balotelli to the mix.

Allied to that, Bellamy and Mancini both had to deny falling out with each other last season as the club narrowly failed to land a place in the European Champions League.

"I feel strongly that I can offer something at the club," Bellamy added.

I really enjoy playing for Manchester City. I think I have shown that with my commitment

    Craig Bellamy
"[But] I sort of feel I am not going to be part of it. I can see it from a distance. I find that very difficult to take because I really enjoy playing for Manchester City. I think I have shown that with my commitment this year."

Bellamy was bought by former City boss Mark Hughes for £14m in January 2009 and went on to enjoy arguably his finest season.

But amid apparent unrest, Tottenham and a host of other clubs were reported to be interested in Bellamy.

"I've had a few options. I've turned down Wolfsburg. I don't fancy Germany, it's not somewhere I see myself playing football," the striker continued.

"With this 25-man ruling, it doesn't matter how well I train or how good my attitude is, I might not be registered to play.

"So do I go without playing football until January, or do I find myself a club where I can play football? I am committed to stay where I am.

"I feel I deserve to be part of it, but I don't pick the 25 or the team. I have to wait on their decision."

His interview was just on sky sports and although he said cardiff would be strongest for family reasons he didn't sound as though he thinks he's ready to lower himself to the championship of if cardiff could afford him. He also said there were other options available to him so who knows?

The SPL is a lower standard than the Championship though.

Just seen him on sky i think from the impression i got was that he would like to go to cardiff, if a deal could be worked out, eg Man city paying 80% of his wages and i can see them doing that if only to keep the fans on side meny off whom from what ive wread and herd arnt happy at the prospect of him leaveing

The same Championship thats most influential player last year was a Rangers reject in Charlie Adam. He couldn't cut it in the SPL, just like Burke, McCormack, Marshall etc yet look good players in the Championship.

Championship is the same standard as the SPL.

For Old Firm rejects going down there it's mostly a breeze because there's no pressure for them to perform to a very high level like the supporters of Celtic and Rangers do.

Saying that players who play well up here like Russell Anderson get's found out down there.

Similiar level completely different leagues to compare though; more time on the ball etc in the championship at a slower pace. More getting kicked up here and having to rush your passes etc.

Some players can prefer the former some the latter.

Just the same as Diego Forlan not performing in the Premiership but being one of the best players in the world in La Liga; different strokes for different folks.

Come off it, one of our crappest players has just gone and signed for Aberdeen!

Another for St Johnstone, you mention all these SPL players doing well in the Championship yet nearly all of them are former Celtic or Ragers players and not the rest of the league.

The Championship is far above the SPL in terms of quality.

This is the forum of an SPL team btw, so maybe it would be nice if you don't talk down the league. It has it's aspects that could really be improved but it is good for the size of the country imo- although not as strong as before.

I think it is unfortunate that our league is always compared with the English leagues when instead we should look at countries with a similar population as ourselves, for example the Scandanavian leagues. I think our league does quite well, with last week Motherwell beating Aalesunds (a team 4th in Norway) convincingly as well as the successes of us and the huns over the past few seasons. Our league though has got weaker over the past few years due to the lack of money affecting nearly all the clubs across Scotland.
