Or maybe because he see's himself as an Arab Israeli, rather than Palestinian?

Pretty sure Kayal says he himself is an Isreali-Arab.

It's the same as Irish nationalists playing for the wee six.

Until recently, few of them realised they had a choice; inertia; the schoolboy system; the unwillingness of one association to pick from the territory of another; et cetera et cetera.

It's only really been in the last four or five years that the Irish national team has eagerly picked players from the north, which is scandalous in itself but by the by.

I just dont see why he'd play for them if he thought of himself as anything other than israeli considering the tensions between Israel and Palestine

I have no idea what he considers himself as. But I would have thought he would have been against representing Israel if he considered himself Palestinian :50:

    It's not important anyway

“People see too much television, What the television shows about Israel is totally different to what happens. The life between the Jews and the Arabs is very good. I’m an Arab and my agent is Jewish but we’re like family. The Jews and the Arabs live together in Haifa, which is a mixed city. Maccabi Haifa has seven or eight Arab players and that’s normal. The only difference is their religion, but there’s no conflict.” - Beram Kayal.

I've seen that quote before. That must have been why in the back of my mind he was Israeli Arab :50:

People aren't throwing season tickets away because of race. As much as you'd like that to be the reason it's not.

It's a demonstration against the treatment of the Palestinian people.

I don't think you're racist. But I do think what you're saying is the same as what the Rangers fans did with MoJo.

But how come you would boycott Celtic for the signing of Remi Gershon? A Jewish Israeli. But not Beram Kayal - a Muslim Israeli?

Che mentioned the boycotting of South African produce during apartheid.

He is applying the same notion to the plight of Palestine.

A demonstration to the occupiers of Palestine.

Kayal probably plays for Isreal to further his career etc. But also, if he was a well known "Isreali" professional footballer, but declared for Palestine, then he'd probably be in a lot of bother in Isreal as would his family etc.

Something I find very odd is the claim by the Jewish population of Israel is that being Jewish is a race. It's a religion, not a race.

Here's a quote from Kayal who is a self proclaimed 'Arab Israeli'.

"I am Arabic which is the minority compared to Jewish people in Israel. The Arabic and the Jewish people are happy because I have more friends who are Jewish, I live with Jews and I play in the Israeli team with Jewish people."

The quote on the last page pretty much confirms Kayal sees him self as an Israeli Arab. Therefore he is Israeli and plays for them because its his country

No, one person boycotting a Celtic match would make no difference.

I get the idea that Che was speaking about if hopefully becoming a larger thing and possibly other sporting teams/events to follow suit.

It would be great to get a boycott similar to the South African one going the country.
