'Larsson chose us when he had so many other options'

Yep, like when he wasn't getting a game at Feyenoord in 1997.

Can't be denied he had plenty of offers whilst here tho, so he did continue to choose us..

My point related to how long he stayed here.

Celtic helped make Larsson the player he became, no doubt.

He’d had 150 odd games for Feyenoord, mostly off the left and scored 1 in 3 for them. His last year was tumultuous and Wim knew he had a clause to exploit to get him for a low price. He had a high reputation already, he kicked on to bigger heights with us and had the option to leave us for much bigger clubs a long time before he did. Mainly Barcelona and specifically Man Utd.

Larsson’s loyalty to us should never be downplayed, his love for us and the best years of his career, whilst yes deservedly well played when we could give big wages on the world stage, he stayed when he could have left to be higher thought of than he is already on the world stage.

His stints at Barca and Man Utd, whilst well passed his best at those times, are very highly regarded. If he left us the Golden Boot year, and Man Utd would have paid the money for him Ferguson was a massive fan - think what his career could have been.

And he still wouldn’t trade what he has with us and what he gave us, a guy with no connection to our club before he signed. We will never, ever see that ever again.

3rd top scorer ever, in 7 years here, 1 of those years out with a horrific leg break possible career ending back then… he had options, he chose us.

Especially when Luton vs Bournemouth is right there to use as an example.

There is no way on earth that the SPL is better to watch than the EPL not in any world. Attendances and tv viewing figures dwarf the SPL. SPL is one helluva low standard

Infact, more of the Scottish population go to watch the SPFL than than England population go go watch the EPL:fear:

There’s a plastic veneer and fakeness over a lot of the Premiership for me but the football is really good, Man City the biggest ones there.

Scottish football feels more authentic but the qualities not anywhere near the same. Better than we give it credit for though.

Ps Luton Bournemouths still a * game. Give me us against the Huns anyday of the week.

Exactly. Who wants to watch the diddies of the EPL trying to avoid relegation.

Would probably agree CCV has been a more consistent defender. But in terms of someone in that area of the park in my lifetime I've never seen anyone like VVD and probably won't again.

Both did a few years ago, at the same time.

Definitely more consistent but just in terms of actual defending he’s just better.

Footballing ability VVD was ridiculous in flashes but he wasn’t fully focused or indeed the finished article at Celtic. He raised his levels time and time again when he left though.
