Vast majority would say Boruc I’d suggest.

And, in all honesty, at both their peaks it would be Boruc because there was a period in time he was literally one of maybe 3 who could feasibly be called the best in the world. Foster has never had that.

It’s always low-key irked me that we only call him ‘Kyogo’ when he has a very pronounceable surname.
It’s not like Jota, who adopted that nickname for himself. In Japan, when commentators said his name, Kyogo was often ‘Furuhashi’.

Sort of smacks of a benevolent racism: ‘wee Kyogo’, the Japanese guy whose surname we won’t bother trying to pronounce.

We haven’t done it with any of the other East Asian players we’ve signed before or since, right enough. Nevertheless, I just find it a bit reductive.

Is there not some anomaly with Asian names, they translate differently in English.

I know in my work a lot of issues arise in passports because their names end up surname first.

Plus its on the back of his shirt. If he wanted Furuhashi he would have it, no?

What is on the back of all 3 of Kyogo, Daizen and Reo’s strips?

Do they not choose what they want on the back of their shirt, is that not why? Sure Kyogo chose that which is why we all refer to him by that name. Think it's a simple as that, to be honest.

Aye, but surnames and forenames are interchangeable in Japan. Typically we don’t take that approach here though. How often did we call Nakamura ‘Shunsuke’? Also, we call Hatate and Maeda ‘Hatate’ and ‘Maeda’ the majority of the time, or at least no less than their first names.

If you heard a Celtic fan call him Furuhashi, it would stand out. I just don’t think that feels right somehow, and I do think it’s linked to him being the first of the Ange-era East Asian players: the wee Japanese guy with his first name on the back of his top; it’s like as a fan base we misunderstood the club’s will to incorporate the player’s home culture’s naming customs.

Back in 2005 or whenever it was, there might not have been the level of cultural awareness that there is now. Who’s to say if Naka signed now, we wouldn’t call him ‘Shunsuke’? I just don’t think we would though; I think at most, we’d use both names interchangeably, like with Hatate, Maeda and Kobayashi.

In Japan, Furuhashi got both names; here we’ve given him a diminutive sole use of the forename. In years to come, we’ll look back on it as misinformed and as incidental racism.

I’ve no issue with you having that opinion mate but I genuinely think you are miles off it.

The fact you yourself think it’s controversial tells me deep down you know that as well :56:

Forster was the best shot stopper (though Boruc was also good). Boruc was better at coming off his line, especially 1v1's. Neither great with their feet but maybe Forster worse. Boruc more of a leader.

It's close; but I'd say Boruc for me.

I'd say Bain. Zaluska was rotten for us, at least Bain had a few decent games.

To be fair you haven't posed a question. If the question is "Who was our shitest keeper?" then my answer is a fair shout.

Marshall was way better than de Vries or Zaluska. Always quite liked him. Met him once and he was a nice big guy.

I'm struggling to to enjoy the game as Rodgers' face irks me.

I don't know how to explain it, perhaps I'm still bitter about how he left in the first place but I just don't want to see or hear from him and that is kinda impossible given his position.
