Hmm not sure how Viduka would have faired in the back line in Europe Dev. (Had he even been prepared to do it in the first place, that does show Sutton as being the better Celtic player though).

I should have read on further, although if I was to have one only it'd be Sutton all day.

    I've caught up now :giggle1:

Absolutely. It's a good one for helping us understand and appreciate each other's point of view, rather than being as reactionary as we often can be on the internet - myself very much included.

    Kudos \o/

Me and my dad were watching all of Di Canio and Van Hoijdonks goals for us on yituube the other day.

Would loved to have seen them two link up with Larsson.

Pierre and Henrik a match made in heaven IMO potentially more so than him and Sutton.

Hard to say he would've gone on to be a candidate for best in the world.
But he was excellent for us. A massive, massive reason we stopped the ten. Was gutted he got injured & it finished him.

I see Paul Elliott mentioned above also as a great centre half. He really was. Loved him. The argument does get thrown at him that it's merely because he was a performer in a poor team. Maybe, still stood out tho. Played Serie A with Pisa too. No mug.

We were a ‘trial’ away from seeing Lubo, Henrik and Rivaldo man.

A year or two away from Lubo and Di Canio in the same team. Imagine that!

Was Rivaldo linked when Lubo and Larsson were here?

I always thought it was the summer of 2004 he was linked? When he left AC.

Moravcik and Di Canio is a mad, mad thought. A momo sylla blunder away from seeing Drogba in for a trial too!

Just read about Rieper there. I never seen him play in the flesh (born 95) but I didn't realise it was a toe injury that * him...and he didn't officially leave us until 2000!

I thought it was right after he was leaving Milan?

Weird thing is, Sylla was right. At that time he wouldn’t have got in ahead of Sutton or Henrik but, * me what a player we would have had when they were leaving/winding down.

I despised Viduka, more than any other Celtic player taking Mo Johnston out of the equation as I no longer recognise him as an ex player.
I don't mean dislike....I despised him and his square heid.

I get why 35 goals in 48 games is unreal but.

Both Reiper and Elliott were outstanding players, can't separate them myself.

No logic to it bud, he could have scored 100 in 100 and I'd still have hated him.

Summer of 2004 mate, there's a Sky article which states he was "set for celtic" and was due to link up with us in the US along with Amoroso from BVB, this was to replace Larsson :giggle1:

I don't quite know how Rivaldo would have faired in a MON side.

Drogba was v young at the time though, could at least have taken him on with them winding down! Hindsight!

Aye, because he took so long to bother to turn up and refused to play at the end of his tenure as well.

I loved him but if I was older I reckon I’d be frustrated as * with him.

Ahh, so we must have went for Juninho instead. Imagine the two of them in O’Neill’s last season hoofball.

Viduka frustrated me like no one else before or after. I remember being at CP watching us against that lot and Amoruso was pulling him,wee elbows in the back.Basically every Italianesque tactic going and that big shitebag just went in the huff and chucked it. Sickening.
