I got slagged rank rotten for saying this exact same thing a number of years ago on here.

Guys often can’t differentiate between ‘better contribution for us’ and ‘better player all round’. Sutton was the latter, Viduka was the former - by far.

 

Always forget Viduka played briefly with Larsson

 

Genuine question….but what exactly had Tierney done to have him on the verge of being a legend? I mean what did we really get out of him, 2 and half seasons? Worse players have been here longer so genuinely curious to what he had done.

 

Played a massive part in two trebles.

Before that we’d only ever won 3. He won 2.

 

If he stayed and helped deliver 10 in a row he'd be considered a legend. Every player from the squad would be and I don't like to throw around legend easily.

 

Won 2 trebles, an invincible, fans favourite, self portrayed Mr Celtic. Staying and winning the 10 would have ensured legend status.

 

Good thread this one, no? Get to throw it out there with no recriminations.

I think I might amend that to Viduka a better striker. Sutton better footballer, just remembered how class he was at CB and midfield

That era is what I think of when I think of my Celtic team. Larsson, Sutton, Hartson, Stan, Lubo, Lenny, Mjallby, Big * Bobo, Agathe…

I miss it * dearly.

 

Some of the best days of my life. Felt like we could beat anyone on our day, and we could.

 

That and it might be the ages we were as well, fresh off the 90’s never knowing success, to go to that. It was something else, before life and * boards turned us into cynical *

 

Tbh mate when it comes to Celtic, I’m usually too much of an optimist. Still haven’t given up hope of winning the ten.

 

Before MON we had really given up expecting anything from Europe. That team reignited the desire.

 

I forget about them, hard not to really. I personally think Dalglish signed them and would have squandered the money. He was the one who brought his inexperienced mate in to be head coach and to me holds more blame than Barnes.

 

Tierney wasn’t a patch on Jonny Doyle as Mr Celtic

 

I’m probably the same way, just feels different than the shiny brand new taking on the workd optimism of back then.

 

Fans give ex-Celtic players too much stick for what they say in the media.
