Good distribution from what I seen of the game, one in particular where he had to clear ball and he kicked it to Taylor’s or Ely’s feet on halfway line.

Far better communication than the other 2 older pros. Could hear him screaming when crosses were coming in that he was taken them. Will need to close the window next time.

I know it’s still early days but it’s great to see him shouting and commanding the back 4. We’ve really missed that.

CELTIC are closing in on a bumper contract extension for shock new No1 Conor Hazard.

SunSport understands talks have been on-going since the summer with the 22-year-old.

And now after his stunning breakthrough Hoops boss Neil Lennon is keen to get Hazard’s immediate future tied up with his present deal expiring next summer.

The Northern Ireland international has been assured in both the Europa League victory over Lille and Sunday’s 2-0 Premiership win over Kilmarnock.

Lennon axed £4.5 million Vasilis Barkas after previously recalling him for Scott Bain.

Now 6’4 Hazard – who has had impressive loan spells at Falkirk, Partick Thistle and Dundee – looks in pole position for an extended run, including Sunday’s Scottish Cup final against Hearts at Hampden.

Celtic are going for a quadruple Treble and Lennon faces a huge selection call, not just with Hazard but also David Turnbull and Ismaila Soro.

The Downpatrick-born Hazard joined the Hoops youth academy from Cliftonville in 2014 and was promoted to the first team squad by Brendan Rodgers in 2017 when he also signed a four year contract.

Championship outfit Dundee had wanted to take him back to Dens Park on loan for this campaign but were knocked back by the Hoops amid stalemate over negotiations.

Hazard made his international debut in 2018 and is now a regular squad pick for Northern Ireland boss Ian Baraclough.

His ambition is to emulate David Marshall, the last academy goalkeeper to establish himself in the Celts top team.

Back in 2017, Hazard said: “It feels amazing and it’s a great honour for me. It’s a boyhood dream come true and it still has to sink in.

“It feels unreal and it’s special to have my family over to see me signing.

They have obviously been with me from the beginning.

"My Mum and Dad drove me everywhere and there has always been that football competition between my brother and I in the back garden.

“I wouldn’t have been able to do without all the coaches I have worked with.

"I have had great help from Colin Meldrum and Stevie Woods who have really developed me over the past three years and hopefully there is more to come.”

He's the very same age Forster was when we first brought him in from Newcastle on loan. No reason why he can't go on and be just as influential, if we remember to give him the time and opportunity to develop that we did with Fraser. If anything, Hazard is a full international vs u21, although I grant you Forster had a fat bigger step up.

I'd lock him in on a new deal, like he was a decent signing, maybe something like 5 years and set about letting the coaches and himself develop him as 1st team choice over the next 3 years, mistakes and all

After just 2 starts Hazard should be the first pick on the team-sheet for the rest of the season. Head and shoulders over the other 2 for his performances and the points already made above. He might be a young in-experienced keeper but he's got all the attributes and desire for a Celtic keeper.

Really like him and would make a lot more sense to give him his chance in the first team than have to go and buy another keeper in January just to unsettle the backline again.

Funny enough he's yet to be seriously tested domestically compared to the other two before him.

Perhaps that says all we need to know about him and his communication with the defence and command of his area.

Or its just to coincide with his start Soro and Turnbull have been running midfield so the defence has been better protected.

Personally I would much rather want to believe the former.

Let's see how the rest of the season goes for him.

I don’t think he’s had enough to do to suggest he’s the answer. Time will tell, I pray to * he has nothing to do on Sunday.

Aye, but he could well be an undercover Tim playing the part perfectly.
