CL: Celtic vs. Spartak (5/12 19:45)

Why are people nervous? There is literally zero chance we will lose at home to Spartak and Benfica will beat Barca in the Nou Camp.

Will be close, but the fans will be in full voice, hopefully we can get an early goal, or news of an early Barca goal, and we'll start to settle, get the ball down and play some good football. 2-0 Celtic.

 

A) not necessarily true, stranger things have happened, b) there is however a chance that we'll draw at home to Spartak and Benfica will draw in the Nou Camp. Remember we need to better Benfica's result, matching it's no good.

 

My first European match * shittin it but Spartak have nothing to play for and Barca just wont lose at home.

 

If the fans make an effort to create noise it will help the players, otherwise we could be looking at well a rubbish result in a stadium that could be used as a library.

 

Because were not much better than Spartack. Dont be fooled into thinking this will be a walkover ,they put two past Barca at the nou camp.

Football matches are decided on such small margins no result would surprise me. Saying that I do fancy our chances but taking nothing for granted.

I'm backing a return to form for Hooper on Wednesday. Has looked poor since his return from injury

 

Spartak was having trouble with their manager. They have excellent, very expensive players.

But after that rubbish we saw today we'll probably stomp them. Thats how Celtic is these days. We bottle the important games against diddy teams and then impress on the big stage.

 

We were 10 seconds away from drawing with Barca, then beat them at home, and smashed 3 past Spartak plus another 1 ruled out and could have easily had more.

We will beat Spartak convincingly and for all the folk getting their panties in a bunch about our league form: they are far, far worse than us in their league!

The "given" part as you put it was more concerning Barca than us, and the combination of the two results being most unlikely.
People are just so fickle and short sighted, hence all the mongs running round spouting * like "Arbroath are now better than Barcelona!!!1!1!!"

For what it's worth, I think we'll do enough on Wednesday but to basically suggest we are certainties to qualify is one of the most deluded opinions I've ever seen on this board.

We are heavy, heavy favourites as is reflected by the managers, and the bookies. It may be deluded to your overly negative and cynical self but when we win and qualify, as expected, you can come back to me and my delusions.
The only surprise will be if Spartak take more than 6 senior players on the trip to Paradise.

Please do! Because I had to do it myself when we beat Helsinki (twice), Helsingborgs (twice), Spartak away and Barca home.

 

My prediction -

The fans make loads of noise, the players come on to a game and the support urge the bhoys in green to claim a famous win.

Lenny - We could never of done it without the fantastic support we got tonight.

Players - This is what its all about, playing for the Celtic and winning games with the help of the fans.

 

Lets hope so, i might feel more confident going into the match when i see barca's team sheet.
