What is our level? By saying this you tell me that you know nothing about the finances of the game. Our top player earns £25k per week which is lower than any of the 500 players in the EPL (20 clubs x 25 man squads).

Why do you keep comparing us to the EPL?

Sheridan isn't even Championship level never mind Celtic level.

I compare us to the EPL because that is the benchmark. In the near future, we will not be able to afford English Championship players.

Griffiths isn’t championship class either but proved he is SPFL class by scoring 28 goals in all competitions last year.

If you don’t rate Sheridan, you can’t rate Griffiths either.

The SPFL is English league 2 / conference standard. Griffiths is taking a step down in the class of opposition he is facing.

    Of course, s'fun though.

It's a daft level of trollness. A welcome break from the usual angry guff.

    I like him.

In all seriousness, when he left, I didn't want him to. He had something about him I thought we could develop more, scored a lot of different types of goals. I wanted us to keep him as the back up and not buy Daryl Murphy, thought it made more sense.

Now? His time has gone. Back then he was a promising 20 year old.

Near enough the entirity of Crystal Palace earn £25k and less. Norwich players don't earn much more (and thats the top end).

There are plenty who earn that or less.

Of course there are players earning less than £25k in the Prem! What a ridiculous thing to say!

You asked how I know? Common sense. If we wanted to bring in an EPL standard player such as Snodgrass to be a marquee signing, we could afford his wages. Can't believe you said we can't afford a single EPL player when there are players sitting on the bench of teams like Norwich who we could get no bother.

And I'm so happy I get to use my favourite gif again for that statement about the standard of football in the SPFL.

Why does no-one on this forum know anything about football finance? This is not a wind up, it is a fact. Celtic have a wage bill of about £40m (Accounts to year 30 June 2013). The next highest wage bill is Aberdeen on approx £4.5m, Hibs third on approx £4m. The lowest is the SPFL is probably Partick Thistle on approx £1m, which is comparable to the top conference sides.

Leicester, top of the English Championship have approx £40m wage bill, same as us. Imagine Leicester in a league with 6 league 2 sides and 5 conference sides. That is the SPFL. These are facts, indisputable facts. I don’t like it anything more than anyone else on this forum.

Footballers will go to the highest wage on offer; it doesn’t matter if that is Partick Thistle or an English conference side.

Love how selective you are Jonny. You forgetting that your beloved 'benchmark' EPL boys - Crystal Palace, have a wage bill 3 times less than ours? Our wage bill, believe it or not, is roughly mid-table EPL.

Can I just point out that your talking bullshit? They (Leicester) have a wage bill of £28m. They also made a £30m loss last season aswell.

Griffiths would have loved to have signed for Hibs permanently. But he is simply above them. I would guess that the most could pay their top layer was £2k per week. At Celtic if he performs well over the next 3 or 4 years I can see him rising from approx £10k at Celtic now to easily our highest paid player in £25k – 30k per week. Yes for all that, being a HIbs supporter, he probably grew up hating Celtic (jealousy, I know, it the price we pay)
