Sadly what he's experienced is the sometimes harsh reality of professional football. He was unfortunate to be out for so long with a serious injury and the manager has every right to stick with the pairing that's been playing so well for him.

He was a good player before his injury (no idea if he still could be) and I'd have liked more from him considering the fee we paid, but it sounds like it's best if he moves on.

Ange's job was to win the league, not to satisfy Jullien. Naming Bitton ahead of him on the bench gave us more versatility, and Welsh has had more experience learning Ange's system.

Yeah it sucks that he's had a tough time of it, but there are others who haven't played as much as they would have liked as well, and who knows, maybe they're working harder in training.

Never really taken to Jullian. Not saying he's not a decent player but he was very hot and cold in terms of performances sometimes.

He looked well off it the one time I've seen him get game time this season. Not really surprised he hasn't had any more.

If we can get some money back on him I'd probably take it

Comments from him come across very sour. If he doesn’t start the match tomorrow (which I doubt) he is 100% gone.

He will be gone 100%. Ange obviously doesn't fancy him, Welsh is ahead of him and he is *, says it all really.

Big wages off the books brings more space for better signings. I'm fine with that. Big Welsh won't get better by having this man on Big wages ahead of him. I don't even think Welsh is good enough yet, but he's got enough potential to be backup while he develops imo.

Cheers for the goals Big man but your times up. Enjoy your next challenge.

I agree. But also, Ange I doubt is someone to be pressured or bullied in to team selection.

He'll see this as Julien wanting away and not giving for the cause.

    Bye bye Julien.

100% going this summer, thanks for the contribution big man but your time is up.

We need to be signing another centre half this summer.

    We need two more CBs.

As I think we already needed one even if he stays. I don't think we will get two though as Ange really likes Welsh.

No fussed at all if he goes, which looks inevitable after the comments. He was a big threat in the other team’s box, but I don’t think he was great defensively, and his passing was poor as well I felt. Too easily roughed up and then couldn’t compose himself.

Don’t think he’s necessarily sulking to the papers as some have suggested - he’s pretty openly stated there that he realises why despite being fit he’s not been given more game time, but also stated that he couldn’t go on that way - which is fair enough.

Sounds like his time here is up though.

I think all this really shows Ange's ruthless side, and his total commitment to team harmony. Out for a year, well liked, it would have been easy to bring him back into the fold, but Ange has clearly identified him as not up to it, both stylistically and in terms of character. No sentiment, and these comments justify that decision imo. No room in this squad for huffy *.

Aye must have been frustrating, but he could have nodded towards how well the team and defence have done this season..

Not sure Ange wants those who are so self-absorbed in his team.. we won't recoup anything near the cash we paid, but he'll defo be gone by the looks of it.. only spanner may be if CCV doesn't sign..

    I only skimmed the interview.

To me it didn’t seem he was sulking. I think once he mentioned he hoped for 90 mins he basically made his situation untenable with Ange.

But overall it’s just been unfortunate the way it’s worked out. Good player, nice guy, delivered a couple of big moments just really unfortunate with injuries.

I hope he moves on and has a good career.

It doesn’t always need to be legend like Lustig or big money move like Van Dijk/Wanyama.

Sometimes we can spend money on a player, get the job done for a few years and then they move on with best wishes.

He could be a bargain for somebody as I cannot see us getting more than a million for him.

Probably already knew he was done here before the interview tbf.. as literally the last thing Ange would respond to favorably is a player trying to apply pressure via the media..

Some big moments for us, had a serious injury which he overcame and is itching to play, new manager arrived with different plans and has been very successful and now he no longer fits in, quotes could be taken out of context or lost in translation too. He'll get a decent move and game time elsewhere and we will be successful without him.
    It is what it is.

Seen the line up, this interview was the final nail in the coffin then.

Can’t blame Ange, don’t like players coming out with things like this when clearly he is not getting in the side due to two other centre half’s playing in an unbeaten side for 32 games.
