Cho Gue-sung

No chance this choker could play for Celtic.

 

Held back on going in on him a bit but haven't been impressed by his conduct..

Don't care if his dream is to play in the EPL or anything like that but everyday for a while it's been either him, his agent or club representatives talking some kinda *. It's boring as *..

I wanted him to come and thought he'd end up here......time we moved on though. Won't miss this saga that's for sure..

 

At this rate we'll pobably wake up tomorrow and he'll be "desperate to sign for Celtic"

 

Said ages ago would prefer we just kept GG, like a lot of people, but I really don't like the sound of him tbh. Call it conjecture or whatever else, but he's been much more vocal and active on social media than I'd want from potential signings; just my opinion.

 

Ange Postecoglou refused to be drawn on reports linking Cho Gue-sung to Celtic.

The South Korean has been the subject of intense transfer speculation with the Hoops reported to hold an interest in the striker. Gue-sung impressed at the World Cup in Qatar with a host of clubs eyeing a move for the Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors striker.


We reported earlier that the 24-year-old prefers a move to Bundesliga side Mainz, to link up with international teammate Lee Jae-sung. Rangers have also been linked with Gue-sung in recent days with the race for the talented hitman turning into a saga. Transfer speculation is rife during the January window and Postecoglou believes only '10%' of stories linking Celtic with players are accurate as he delivered a quip about people getting stories from their 'cousin's barber's neighbour'.


When asked about links to Gue-sung, Postecoglou replied: "I'm not sure who is linking us, so I don't really know.




I'm not across it all the time but Iain (Jamieson) keeps me abreast. I reckon about 10 percent of what is out there is anywhere close to the truth.

"I don't think that is because people are deliberately being misleading. People get a bit of information from their cousin's barber's neighbour and it becomes Celtic are linked to a player

I'm taking this as either: Ange doesn't involve himself much in transfers unless it's a player he knows, and just sets the criteria for the player he wants...or...
...he's hiding the fact that we're still in the running for Jo.

I took it to mean he only gets involved when the deal is close, which for me means there is nothing even close just now......club waiting for GG to move i guess incase they end up with 2 unhappy strikers behind kyogo.

Whatever the (Korean) media have been saying about him and Mainz, he's denied in the interview. There are no concrete plans, and his best friend hasn't said anything about him (Jo) coming over to play there. They've talked broadly about a move, and that he'll have to compete wherever he goes. Jo did say later he can talk with Jae-sung Yi in private about a move (to Mainz ) specifically.

Decision to be made very soon- he's aware of the dangers of his stock falling by the summer.

IMO, if Mainz can't fund the move (and the sports director Christian Heidel supposedly admitted this), Jo's coming to us. I think that if Mainz had the money, he'd go there, but I smell a repeat of Giakoumakis and Werder.

 

Peter Lawell back on the scene and transfers immediately become painfully long drawn out affairs.
