What have I said thats wrong?

Torres will score goals in England but his link-up is poor, hes anonymous outside the box. Is poor in European competitions because he isn't good at holding the ball up and makes moves break down where it's not the 90mph English style football.

Creates very few goals.

He's only better than Bent because he's quicker and a bit better in the air.

Do you reckon he plays well for you in Europe?

Do you think his hold up is good and that he's good outside the box?

Im not going to call him Liverpools Kris Boyd but he's not far off it.

Does he play well for us in europe? Goals against Real Madrid,Inter Milan,Chelsea and Arsenal in the last few years would suggest yes.

It's not really his job to create goals but he has made 6 goals this season to answer your question.

Fernado Torres has 81 goals in 140 appearances which to me makes him special as he hasn't always being playing with the best players.

 

I remember Torres being applauded off the pitch by Barcelona fans at the Camp Nou after he scored a hat trick there for Atletico . When he is fully fit and on form he is up there with the best.

 

so you must think fowler, rush and dalglish are not good either

 

I know he scores goal... so does Darren Bent.

But if you compare him to Drogba. Drogba set up 15-20 goals a season and possibly scores more. Torres has made 12 assists for Liverpool accoring to Sky Sports News. I'd bet Droba has assisted close to that this season alone.

Torres is a good goalscorer in England. But his allround game is not that of a world class player. He lack's the work-rate, technique and selflessness of a real world class forward.

 

Rush and Dalglish were top notch players, the best around. Fowler was not that good at his best he scored a lot of goals but he wasn't much of a footballer.

Im not anti Liverpool if thats what your saying I like Liverpool.

I thought it was a strikers job to score goals. Shearer made a living out of it. Please stop comparing him to Bent who himself is a very good player but Torres has proven time and again he is a top striker.

 

Drogba and even Rooney haven't been scoring as many goals this season because of injuries/loss of form. Granted Rooney has being playing in a wide position a lot but he has created several goals. They are 3 great players and it's not a question of if they start scoring week in, week out but when

 

It is but if you want your team to win Leagues and Champions Leagues then you need better. This is what I want at Liverpool.

 

Just think if Liverpool had Drogba instead of Torres these last 3 years.

The better link-up, up front, the better work-rate, the far more goals being layed off, the leadership. Liverpool would not have fallen away like they did, you need more characters like Gerrard and Carragher who demand the best. Suarez might have this character but don't think he has the stature to do the business.

Signing players like Konchesky, Poulsen, Kyrgiakos etc and if it happens Adam is downgrading to the likes of a Villa. Even Suarez is not a top level player but comes at possibly a top level price.

I like Meireles though, he Gerrard, Reina, Carragher I still think has a place but you need a good pacey partner dont know where youd get one though and I like Johnson despite his fralities are guys you need to build around. The rest need to be sold on to get the money for the replacements.

£50million for Torres is a steal and will allow you room to move for a left-back and centre-back, selling Babel is help, next to go would be Joe Cole, Poulsen and Maxi, then one of Agger and Skrtel.

 

Aye, and Xavi is slightly better than Scott Brown.

Know it's not that simple, but something on those lines. Torres is a class player, when he's fit, but at the moment its not working, and if he wants to go to Chelsea then he's hardly going to be motivated to be full form at Liverpool.

 

i wouldnt * all the money away on 2 players mate tbh. get suarez and sort the defence i think is the way forward for them.

Torres is a luxury Liverpool cannot afford, a Torres without a Drogba kind of forward or a world-class creator in behind. Isn't good enough to win the League.

And fill in the gaps which are centre-back, left-back, two wide men, a playmaker and striker with better players. Selling Torres gets plenty of funds for 2 players. Selling Poulsen, Maxi, J.Cole, Skrtel, Aurelio will free up more. This is what they need, Suarez may do a job on the right with Johnson as a hard-working foil for the attacking Johnson but for no more than £15million.
