Got to agree with this 100%. Fans seem to forget that clubs are buisnesses (and always have been since the start of the professional era). Remember, even if he does shove loads of cash into the club he's not going to give it away, it'll be a loan. And loans need to be repaid...

So what if he is spot on, thousands of Celtic fans could have said exactly the same thing as we already know it. And all of you singing his praises for that little * who has never had a good word to say about us constantly attempting to create negativity around our club is ridiculous.

Say DD does through a couple of million the way of Celtic so we can buy a player that we couldn't afford without his help (wages over a 4 year contract and transfer fee) then the next day he gets knocked down by a bus. Celtic then can't afford to the commitment they've made so where does that leave us?

I don't want to be reliant on a rich person financing us, look what happened to Gretna, or what if he decides enough is enough and pulls out his financing? Celtic has to be self-sufficient, it's the only way to guarantee our long term survival.

Throwing a few million to buy a player or two is only a short term solution, 3 or 4 years down the line when they've gone past their best do you expect him to do the same again and again. It would solve the immediate problem of improving the team just now, but not the long term problem which is much more important.

don't think thats the way it works buying players, Celtics fans should be saying no more extra free shares issued to the directors as that only makes it more harder to get rid of the board as they then own more than they invested on paper form, issuing shares dose not help the ordinary fan, there where 2 types of shares issued the fans type that returns nothing no extra shares or dividends, then there are the directors type that over the piece get back what they put in,
and then hold double or treble the shares they started with this would need to be stopped or you will never have control of our club

It's only ordinary shares that comes with voting rights mate, preference shares are more like loans than ownership rights so they don't have any voting rights attached to them.

However, if someone has bought convertible preference shares then these can be converted into ordinary shares at a set time and at a set rate if the option is taken up instead of receiving the dividend that would be due on them.

We have thrown big money at so called big players in the past it dosent always guarantee success, the important thing for next season is to get the right manager in, with the players we have we should have at least been competing for the league this season !

    Yes, yes, and YES again.

The truth, when you get down to it, is always so simple. With these players, on their wages, we should not be in the mess that we are in the SPL! With a reasonable manager with a better than half-baked strategy we should be leading the SCOTTISH PREMIER league not struggling to come second. The problem was the manager not the board.

I wish I could think of a good example of where one rich business man throwing good money after bad does nothing to guarantee long term success - ermmm I'm sure there must be another team in the SPL that has tried to buy success and has consequently ended up in trouble with their bankers...
Perhaps Charlie "Spot-On" Nicholas could help me out here with some insightful suggestions since he's such a know-all.
