I think that you could be right next season, but I am hoping that, being business minded, the board will see that investment now will improve the teams earning potential in the future.

They know that they risk loosing support as well as CL money, IF they are smart they can get the team and the support back on side by getting the cheque book out.

If that does not seem likely, then yes we should quite rightly get rid.

Do we really NEED to go out and spend £15m during the summer on 3 or 4 players though? As i've said in previous threads, we need a spine to the team. We have a decent keeper, two decent keepers to be fair.

Yes, we need two extremely good centre halves, although Hooiveld looks the biz. We shouldn't have sold Caldwell, but there may have been something else going on behind the scenes. If he wasn't willing to sign a new contract, then we were going to lose him for nothing in the summer anyway.

One new centre mid. I think Broony has been stable. Nothing too spectacular, but then not spectacularly crap either! I think he's doing the wrong job right now. He should be an attacking midfielder, not just sitting back all the time.

Finally, a quality centre forward. I believe we may already have one in Rasmussen, but Samaras and Fortune aren't really up to the task. Not as out and out strikers anyway.

From there, we need to look at the Academy. Thompson has been brought in far too early, although needs must. In a few years, once he gets more experience, he could potentially be a great player. McGowan looks a decent player also, as well as Caddis. Then you have Rogne, Misun, McGinn, Sheridan etc etc.

Thinking about it now, we're gonna win the League next year!!!!

Am not a fan of Charlie but hes spot on here! The Fletcher signing should of happened and i firmly believe he would have scored the goals to win us that title and then the huns would have missed out on the CL and the windfall which would have pretty much killed them. The board have to come out and stop hiding and get there act together. I mean where was Dermott Desmond when we had a semi final? at the masters watching golf!! John Reid has done pretty much * all as chairman. And at this time they havent said a word about the situation we are in, at least Lawell has the balls to answer questions from the fans being asked to him! The way we are being run at this minute of time is an absolute disgrace!

i think 2 central defenders are needed along with hooiveld with loovens and O'Dea being sold and Thompson being put back into the reserves. With Naylor going we need to sign a new left-back and braafheid certainly isn't the answer. I'd sign N'Guemo and play him alongside Crosas. I'd sell McGeady and brown to bring in funds of around 10mil. A left-sided midfielder is also needed as well as a new striker, possibly kamara. It will take a bit of money to bring in new players but through sales it can be done without too much outlay

OK. So here's how the new Celtic team for next season would look then.

    GK - Boruc, Zaluska, Cervi
DF - Hinkel, Wilson, Naylor*, Thompson, Hooiveld, Caddis, Rogne, Misun
MF - Maloney, Crosas, N'Guemo, McGowan, McGinn, McCourt, Mizuno, Zhi, Ki, Kamara
FR - Rasmussen, Fortune, Samaras, Sheridan

Anyone i've missed out? And i'd rather keep Naylor.

    * team would any of these players get a game in the premier league except maybe boruc and kamara .

As I said we need massive investment . If our board now cant give us it then get them out and get the club sold to someone who can.

Also to many of our support our settling for third or forth best players not even the first or second best where celtic should be.

So are you willing to sacrifice all the hard work in us achieving almost zero debt, to spend millions for a few seasons of silverware, but then be left high and dry AGAIN and possibly back to where we were in 1994? :31: :38:

i don't think it will cost much to achieve an overhaul. The team needs around 15 mil investment. If we do sell McGeady for 8mil and Brown for 3-4 mil as well as selling the deadwood etc the money could easily be recouped. It's all about wheeling and dealing

If we get suitable investors with the interest of celtic at heart and a good business plan . This wouldnt happen.

There will be no super-rich investors because there is no money to be made and not even any prestige to owning a Scottish club.

Unlike England where there is a genuine chance of profit and a genuine chance of winning the CL.

Stephen Fletcher???? so if we had signed him we'd have won the treble would we? The board got it wrong with Mowbray but their running of the club has not been as bad as some would have you believe. They have kept our debt manageable which is VITAL and has seen us be the only club in Scotland which has had money to spend in the last 2 seasons. Mowbray was a bad choice but the previous 2 choices of manager turned out well and that should not be forgotten. I'm not 100% happy with the board right now but a lot of the criticism is OTT, much of it stirred up by the usual suspects in the media who would have you believe it's the early 90's again.

Who from a business perspective would buy a club in the SPL and throw enough money into it to compete in Euro terms? Think that's an easy one, nobody! Competing against Rangers who are broke is not enough, as we need to recover our reputation in Europe,( which will require millions upon millions as we currently have and have had fro the past 5 years ordinarily * players) or we are doomed to a slow death in the SPL. However its a dead market place for any investor. So it looks like we are f*cked unless we get a major overhaul of Scottish Football from top to bottom that will result in it becoming worth investing in, will this happen? Dream on.
