Will create/score quite a few for them. Decent signing..

Will struggle with any pace running at him though now..

He’s been coping with the lack of pace for a long time now. They don’t play a particularly high line, think he’ll be fine.

How old is he now? Feel like he was close to retiring when he was last with us and that was about 6 years ago or so.

Good signing for United though, experience and all that.

He definitely rebelled against Deila but I do think there was reason to doubt.

He went with a high protein & fat, low carb diet and it had us dying on our * in the 2nd half of games.

To make that worse they would put carbs out on the table then have people watching to see who was taking it. That creates an atmosphere of distrust.

He was honest and said he didn't deal with it properly but I don't think anyone did in the situation. He's moved to a vegan diet so something of what Deila has said has struck a chord.

He also said he followed it and was the best he’d ever looked in his life but the worst fitness

Yep, basically strips fat off you but carbs are the natural source of fuel for the body.

I remember saying in Deila's first season that it was mad how we'd start games like a whirlwind, going 2 or 3 up then the intensity would fall off a cliff and the other team would come into the ascendancy.

There's a balance to be found and probably the way Deila tried to implement it, wasn't ideal.

Maybe in Scandinavian countries they embrace these diets more readily but in Scotland, taking over a team that was Champions and qualifying for the Champions League, maybe there could have been a more gradual introduction to it.

They don’t, mind the old coach at Malmo said it, everybody knew it happened with Ronny’s teams. Could be got at in the last minutes because they are knackered.

I mind when Deila came in he brought over a few sports scientists with him.

Now, forgive me for being skeptical, but surely if there was something technically wrong with their approach, you'd have a fitness "expert" in John Collins having something to say about it?
