With regards @Gyp Rosetti 's mention of Helen bending down beside the trophy.

It did happen.

 

I know this in the scale of things is rather miniscule, but thought it was a nice touch and worth mentionning. What I appreciated was the team recieved the trophy et al, while still wearing the Hoops. And same with those in the squad that didn't play today still all wore the Hoops.

The exception being Commons, but as there was a seperate send off unto itself it did set him apart, so fair dues there also.

So many times you see in all manner of sports across the world, as soon as the title or championship or whatever is being played for, is secured, you see tacky T-shirts being passed around and being worn over the top of their kit. The players always look a little embarassed as they stick them on, as it is their club (or whatever) making it an obligation. But not this Celtic team.

The players don't spend a year, putting up with the aches, cramps & niggles, injuries, literal blood, sweat and tears, ups and downs (thankfully, there wasn't many of those this season) and fight to go through an entire campaign undefeated and showing their complete dominance throughout, all for a t-shirt at the end of it. And it isn't a t-shirt the supporters cheer for.

It is the Hoops. The pride in the Green and White, in what bonds them and all of us together.

Like I say, on the scale of things not that big a deal, but symbolically and in years to come when fans look back on this season, all it has been achieved, to see the entire squad wearing the Hoops to celebrate and complete the lap of honour, there is a timelessness about it. A t-shirt design can often be very tacky, but the Hoops are timeless. It is what connects this current team to Stein's, all the way back to when Maley's 1904 team first wore them wirth pride on their way to 6IAR over 100yrs ago. It connects the great and the good of those eras but doesn't forget those tougher years either. The teams that Hogg and Mochan, Evans and Peacock, McStay and Boyd had to do their best to inspire and kept hope alive. Kept the faith. Hope for a brighter tomorrow. Hope that our day will come.
