Not sure if this has been mentioned, are the two qualifying stages on the Champions league on tv?

I'm sure BBC Scotland will pick up the away games.

I think the squad we have is strong enough to beat whoever we get in the initial round. They learned a wee bit from the games last season and we have a few games to get the players sharp.

The big test will be the latter round. There will be quality teams in there and to progess I'd feel so much more comfortable if we had a new defender in place.

Just watched Molde v Ventspils; Molde(potential opponents) winning 3-0 and could`ve been a lot more. Managed by Ole Solskjaier, looked really good on the break. The opposition weren`t that good, although Molde are 15 games into their season.

Would like to avoid them but by the same token, think we would be too good.

Pretty certain that all the away legs will be streamed and online links given just before KO in the match threads on the day.

Fingers crossed we dont get Molde, they're 15 or 16 games into their season and have 7 wins out of 7 home games

Potential opposition update - from STV:

"SPL champions Celtic have been placed in group two for the Champions Path draw and will be seeded.

Their potential opponents have been narrowed down from 20 to ten by UEFA, with the governing body splitting the draw into two pots.

Celtic will face one team from the winners of the ties Ulisses (Armenia) v FC Sheriff (Moldova), Molde FK (Norway) v Ventspils (Latvia), HJK Helsinki (Finland) v KR (Iceland), AEL Limassol (Cyprus) v Linfield (Northern Ireland) or Neftci PFK (Azerbaijan) v FC Zestafoni (Georgia).

The ten teams played their first second qualifying round ties over the last two nights, with second leg games to be played on July 24/25.

Of Celtic’s potential opponents, Sheriff lead Ulisses 1-0, Molde were 3-0 home winners over Ventspils, HJK Helsinki are essentially through after a 7-0 home win over KR, AEL Limassol lead Linfield 3-0 and Neftci are ahead of Zestafoni by the same scoreline."

So the teams we can face have been narrowed down to the following:

Molde/Ventspils (Almost certainly Molde as they are 3-0 up from first leg)

Ulisses/Sheriff (Likely to be Sheriff as they won 1-0 away to Ulisses on Tuesday)

HJK Helsinki/KR (Certainly HJK as they won 7-0 at home in first leg)

AEL Limassol/Linfield (Almost certainly AEL Limassol as they won first leg 3-0)

Neftci/Zestafoni (Almost certainly Neftci as they won 3-0 on Tuesday)

So the likely opponents we could face are:

    Molde

    Sheriff

    HJK Helsinki

    AEL Limassol

    Neftci

There's nobody to fear there other than Molde in my opinion. I've heard of Sheriff and just have a feeling that that's who we'll draw. But c'mon, Celtic should be good enough to beat anyone of those teams.

Neftci are who I'd want although the long trip could be a problem. Also need a visa to enter Azerbaijan.

Wouldn't * fancy Molde, that's for sure. A guy playing for them, on a differing note, I mind years ago from footy manager. Was a hidden gem - Børre Steenslid.

Back to the real world, however, Ole Gunnar will have them well set up. I'd not relish that encounter.

I'd like Molde although they are probably the best best team we could get but at least we wont under estimate them

HJK Helsinki - would fancy our chances but they just won 7-0

AEL Limassol - NO NO NO NO NO NO NO

Neftci - a long trip but i don't see them being any better than us

None of them will be 'easy' but we really should be beating all 5, especially at home.

As above Molde are the banana skin as they are already well into their stride.
