naw i dont care about how poor the tournament is and the pretige and potential revenue

i just want someday to sit down with my gran children if i ever have any and tell them how i seen celtic win the uefa cup like my grandad did with me cause i think its doable.

although i fear i will never see this in my lifetime

Sod the Uefa cup, the CL is the bench mark and for the few seasons we have improved, lets get that away win and make the last 8.
I want us to draw teams we have not played before so i can have some good away trips! If we are going to make the last 8 we will have to beat some of the top seeds i'd rather face the real top one's in the league format.
Would be good to draw Real or Juventus! would love us to kick Chelski's butts!

I hope we avoid teams we have already played in the CL.

I hope we get ( as far as i know, PSV & Zenit are in the right places as far as pots go.... hopefully)

i know the uefa cup isnt as good as the champs league but for * sake wouldnt you rather win that than a last 16 place so we can say to people hey " we won the european cup in 67 and the uefa cup in 09 " dosent anyone understand where i am comeing from * * a european trophy is better than non and i would love to see the uefa cup wich we rightly deserve tucked away nicely into out trophy cabinet. yes the money is better going into the last 16 means alot but christ we deserve a european trophy it is well long overdue and i want that uefa cup so badley right now.

Seeding in the Champions League 2008/2009

 

I'm sure most people on here in their right minds would prefer to win the Uefa Cup than get knocked out of the Champions League in the last 16 again - silverwear is silverwear, as far as I'm concerned, and so is a European trophy.

But the fact of the matter is we should be aiming to get out of our group and to really coming close to, if not achieving, a quarter final place this season. We have to try to keep on improving.

That said, it all depends on the draw. We're due a really tough one, I think - we've been in two of the weakest groups over the past two seasons, it has to be said.

 

The trouble with the UEFA Cup is that to 'qualify' for it we'd either need to a) not win the SPL, b)get knocked out in CL qualifying or c) Finish 3rd in the CL group and all three of these would be big failures for the club. I think the only dignified way of ending up in the UEFA Cup would be to finish 3rd behind say Real Madrid and Bayern or something.

 

I'd take a UEFA cup win over only the last 16 CL although it will be extremely difficult with teams like AC Milan involved, so it's not as straight forward as just finishing 3rd in the group stages. I think we still lack goals in the team atm and will struggle to get far in europe this season. We're not that far short though, just need a top class forward and we haven't really spent big yet imo.

Ill take anyone to be honest, weve played the best already over the past few years so we should expect it to be rough playing in the champions league.

 

Need to be drawn against an English team to show them all down south what we're about. It's been to long since the man u game and i think every1 down south's 4got we beat them! :icon_mrgreen:

 

The English are the ones we want to avoid the most. They are stronger than the other leagues. The Italians look by far the easiest of the 3 big leagues.

As for whether i want Celtic to get to the last 16 of the CL or win the UEFA cup. If Celtic want to think of themselves as a big club then you have to get to the knockout stages of the CL. No big team cares about being in the UEFA cup anymore. Rangers got to the final last season FFS!

 

Does it matter who we get? U have to play the best at some point anyway! Would just prefer to get an english team to get one over on them!

 

Aye but there's no guarantee that we will actually get one over them.
