Whatever the result I am really pleased with our attitude going into this game, lots of self belief and a sense of belonging, no here to make up the numbers, glad to be here tosh from players or management but a realisation that it's tough but we feel we can do it.

    thats true
    and again true i guess
but then again both Stokes and Pukki are hot stuff right now
it would be really tempting to put them both start

The idea with three at the back is that Milan don't play with wingers, so we don't really need to play with full-backs. Juventus are very strong defensively & they only play with three centre-halves.

It also frees up a spot in attack where a couple are going to miss out as it stands.

Samaras will start, no question. Lennon has hinted that Boerrigter will start, as well. So Pukki, Stokes, Matthews & Commons are competing for two spots (if we go 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-2).

Yeah, despite it looking like he has a parachute he was always arriving in Italy with the rest of the squad :56:

He is still highly doubtful and, in fact, it was only decided he would travel last night.

De Jong,Muntari in the midfield are biggest threat
De Jong: covers both center&wing well, plays really tough football
tackling is world class, can surprise with a free kick or with a long shot

    Muntari: also plays tough,gives surprise
    crosses,passes behind defense,shoots often

Balotelli is their finisher a real threat, aerial ability world class
finishing also is world class, only con is his temper

one player not to be forgotten is Milan goalkeeper Abbiati
a veteran but really good reaction style keeper

Forster; Lustig, Ambrose, Van Dijk, Izaguirre; Brown, Mulgrew; Matthews, Commons; Samaras; Stokes.

I expect that to be our starting line up.

think my team would be similar ( if not identical) to those posted already.

    Forster

    Lustig Ambrose v.Dijk Izzy

    Brown Mulgrew

    Commons
    Boerrigter..................Sammy

    Stokes

That's what I'd like to see. Although, if Ledley were fit possibly have Derk drop to the bench and have a solid CM 3 of Brown, Ledley, and Mulgrew. Really just want Stokes to start with Sammy out left and Commons doing what he does.
Even with that formation Izzy and Lustig can push up with Mulgrew dropping into CB. Same as if we're on the cosh could drop into a back 5.

I like this, the front four interchanging and can all switch about keeping the Milan defence guessing..
Stokes can drop off or left and sammy can go up top, derk can switch sides and go up top and commons can play both wings..
Enough in that front 4 to cause damage, and mulgrew pinging balls about too..

yeah, 4-2-3-1, which can also be 4-3-3. It has the ability to change it up when needed. I like it's versatility. :50:

in my mind you can choose either

more of a defensive formation with counter attack tactic
and use more center to direct the game pushing wing up and down

    or

more of a offensive formation with either short passing with FB and W
direct the game from the wings,or CD CM long passing, crossing direct the game
    from the middle
