In my experience of Milan and juve you're teams are diving bleeps..

You have you're view I have mine,I think we'll see plenty of play acting on Wednesday, especially f it's not going all you're own way..

What are you failing to * grasp here? He said Italian teams have a reputation for cheating. It may be a generalisation but I think it's warranted given the prevalence of it in Serie A, the match fixing scandals and some of the tactics we've been on the receiving end of in Europe - Gilardino's dive (you can see how * hilarious it is for yourself), Nicola Amoruso's dive which cost us a place in the last sixteen, Juventus' rugby at corners last season which nullified our attacking threat at set pieces and went some way to us losing the game.

I want us to go about it like this as well, the exact same way we went about Juventus. If we are facing a midfield of Muntari and De Jong I don't think they have the creative flair to do what Juve done to us.

We just need to hope that we have our shooting boots on and our defenders concentrate 100% throughout. Otherwise it may be a disaster.

If that is their midfield then they will find it very hard to get the ball up to Balotelli and Robinho. The fact that they sold Boateng and Kaka is out takes a lot away from their game IMO.

We just need to keep Balotelli quiet. He's the big danger.

Old cliche but keep it tight,I don't know what the crowd will be like if it will sell out,I doubt it but they will become restless if we are stifling them..
Break when we can and use the pace we have in the team..

If we can score first we have a really good chance of getting something over they're..
We must keep it disciplined and tight at the back if we are to get a result over they're..

Hardly. Milan & Juventus have been guilty of diving/play acting/time wasting/ match fixing on many, many occasions (far more than Celtic, Bayern, Borussia Dortmund, for example). By Italian teams, I assume we mean the big sides - Milan, Juve, Inter. No one's said "Italians are cheats" which, of course, would be untrue and xenophobic.

Just because it's a negative stereotype, doesn't mean it's false or that there's some kind of sinister motivation behind it.

Eh? Would you kindly show me where I said anything that could be construed as even remotely xenophobic please?

Somewhere in between. Don't give them too much respect but don't go gung-ho. Our best chance of getting a goal is on the counter so we should keep it tight, just don't let ourselves get pinned back.

Xenophobic was the wrong word to use.

But its the English media/fans that have popularised that attitude about Italian teams.
No doubt they do it, but they are far from alone in the world of football, every team including our own use the same tactics.
And i dont believe they are more prone than other teams to use them either.

What about the Scotland Italy match. Where we lost 2-1 from a very dodgy free kick. Suppose that was * refereeing, but there definitely is a theme here.

That's true. I do think it's more prevelant in La Liga, Serie A, et al. though - I think it's to do with refereeing (free kicks are awarded for breating on your opponent). :smiley-laughing002: Porto, Milan and Juventus are the ones who I really hold a grudge against because of that kind of play. Of course, I've seen Commons, Stokesy and Sammy go down easily under a challenge but I can't remember them going down ten yards from a challenge à la Gilardino or wrestling people at corners.

They're not the only ones but, as a Celtic fan, they're the ones I remember.

The biggest thing I don't want us to do is....* it and start passing like * Kilmarnock.
Does my * in when we can't pass the ball 2 yards at times in Europe. Might be nerves, I don't know....just don't * it.

Always say just keep it calm, nice and easy passing, but please just don't * it.:50:

That's something that enrages me so much about these leagues/teams. The fact that their own skills are a joy to watch and they could easily beat teams by playing honest and well they feel the need to do this...especially against the so called weaker teams (i.e. Celtic). Does my * right in.

I think that's Kaka,Niang, El Shaarawy, Montilivo (Cpt),Abate, De Sciglio and Silvestre out for the game.

That's 5 starters and Milan don't have the biggest squad.

A clean sheet is everything I would hope for.

Lenny will set his team up to counter attack going by his recent comments.

Our new signings are fitting in well, Broony is on fire - we can get something here.

I'd drop Ledley for Mulgrew, Joe has been poor & Brown/Mulgrew did well for Scotland.

Hoping for an away win to get the campaign started, imagine that? Dancer!

As always though, I'll be * myself on the night. Nervous wreck. :52:

    Forster

    Lustig -- Ambrose -- VVD -- Emilio

    Brown ---- Mulgrew

    Dirk ----- Commons ----- Sammy

    Stokes

I think that side looks solid. I'm a big fan of Stokesy and he warrants a start but I think we should start with pace. Stokes & Commons to come on when Milan are tiring.
