Aren't Barcelona awful? Imagine winning La Liga and making it to yet another semi-final. Rubbish.

And yet none of these can make up for the utter humiliation of tonight. Win all the domestic trophies you like, it's the European success that matters. Just ask fans of the Old Rangers. The World Club Cup LOL. You realise that's just an Arab Sheikh charity shield right?

Barca in the 2000s weren't as good, or as all-conquering as the great teams of previous decades either.
They played some great stuff under Guardiola, and that 5-0 thrashing of Madrid may be the best game i've ever seen, but the never got anywhere near winning 3 European Cups in a row like Bayern, or 5 in a row like Madrid. I maintain that Barca have actually underachieved in the last half-decade. Their empire was relatively short lived.

It's been pretty evident for a while now that a team like Bayern can match Barcelona in every department and over the two legs they went that extra mile. I'm not taking anything away from Dortmund either because they have been pretty outstanding in Europe this season as well.

Color me confused as to why everybody talks about peoples' obsession with Barcelona, but after an historic win by Bayern Munich which signals a shift back to Germany, Barcelona is all those same people want to talk about.

I find this funny coming from someone who follows Liverpool who can't get * near their own domestic league, your own league is always your bread and butter Europe then comes after,so on your assumption Dortmund are humiliated aswell for being 20 points behind Bayern your posts just smack of Barca bashing and I've told you this was going to happen

This type of enormous over reaction accompanies every single game when Messi doesn't score never mind when they're beat in a Champions League semi-final.

The fact remains, on their day, Barcelona are the best football team on the planet with 2 of the greatest ever midfielders and the single best footballer the world has ever seen.

1 or 2 results means nothing in the grand scheme of things, they are neither 'finished' nor is 'their time up'. Sheer hyperbole.

So we haven't had any success since 1967.then? The World Club Cup is important it's just people from Britain that try to make it out to be diddy cup.

I'm sure you'd love some domestic success for Liverpool. :56:

It must be important if Man Utd pulled out the FA cup a few years back to play in it :50:

Bayern celebrate in front of their fans. One ran on and stewards chased him. Players formed a circle to protect fan. Class that :50:

I follow Celtic, hence why i'm on a Celtic forum. You seem to be obsessed with Liverpool. You're not Man U fanboys as well as Celtic and Barca are you?
    Seek help bhoys.

Celtic, Milan, PSG (twice), Bayern (twice). And that's just the Champions League. And that's just this season.

Not smoking atm, but if you're offering. I just think you and your fellow Barca fanboys need to accept that football, like life, is cyclical and your time is over. Deal with it.gif.

    Awesome Caz has lost it.

If Barca are so bad and going to completely collapse what hope is there for anyone else? They are richer than all English and Italian teams who they are already better than does that mean that those teams futures are hopless?

Alright now, they won 3 in 5 years and made the semis every other year. You're correct in citing the other sides but it's important to note that no side has won even back-to-back in the UCL era. Information on other sides is more readily available, scouting is better, turnover is faster at the top. Stability is not the name of the game anymore. Given that context, it's important to judge what Barca's done accordingly.

Second of all, as noted, it's easy for a Liverpool (but not a Celtic fan, showing where your loyalties lie here I'm afraid) fan to play down domestic success, but the fact is most sides value it just as much. Talk to a Barça or Real Madrid fan and they will mention those titles in the same breath. Same with Chelsea and Manchester United fans.

As far as their empire, others have caught up for sure, but look at the turmoil this year. I'm betting that success will live in Germany for a few years, but you're really opening yourself up to having to eat an extreme meal of crow if even half of Barça's problems this year had to do with, oh I don't know, their manager and defender battling cancer, constant injuries to their club captain and talisman, even more disruption at the oft-inconsistent goalkeeper position, and a crucial injury to the best player in the world in the last stages of the season. You might want to relax, enjoy what Bayern has done, and not obsess so much with Barça. It's a shame you couldn't enjoy them for what they were for your preclusion to predicting their downfall. I truly hope you will be able to enjoy Dortmund and Munich where you've previously failed.

Good point if it's good enough for England's most successful team it's good enough for everyone.
