Right now, I think everyone at this club is doing a fantastic job, under normal circumstances, I'd say Lawwell, he's made a lot of difficult decision. Pius lists a lot of good points about Lawwell, but he misses one vital one: He's not afraid to get on the wrong side of the fans when the situation calls for it. As was mentioned regarding Fergus, Lawwell has made a lot of unpopular decisions, but with the benefit of hindsight, I'd say more often than not he was proved correct. Compare that to Murray, a man so wrapped up in his ego that he answered the fans beck and call. I don't need to tell anyone here how that ended up. Pete's not considered a legend at the moment, but I reckon in 10 years we'll look back and truly see what a wonderful job he's done.

That said, I didn't vote for him, as these are not normal circumstances. We're essentially running a one horse race for the league, and while that seems a simple task, it's a new challenge and to be honest, it's a difficult one. If we win the league at a canter, we'll receive next to no praise, as it was so expected. If we win it narrowly, we'll receive a lot of criticism. If we lose it, heaven forbid, the fans and the media will be calling for the head of everyone on this list. We're staring at a fuckload of sticks, with not a carrot in sight.

And for that reason, I voted Lennon. Is he the best manager in the world? Far from it, he's still relatively inexperienced, he makes mistakes, and I've often criticised him, but he is learning, and improving. There are still plenty managers out there who, on paper, could do a better job, but honestly, I'm not sure there is anyone else who can motivate the team under these circumstances.

If you disagree, take a look at some of the comments on the thread for the Ross Country game on Saturday.

I'm not going to single anybody out, but there's a general air of complacency. Apparently it doesn't matter if we don't take 3 points on Saturday, because we'll win the league anyway.

Like it or not (and I very much don't) that is the attitude of a large section of our support, and under less passionate management, I'd wager it'd bleed its way into the squad. I have no doubts, however, that Lennon will have a toe firmly up the * of any player he even suspects is taking this attitude. We should be treating this season like any other and trying to win every single match we play in.

In a few years time, when "normality" is restored to Scottish football, ask me again and I'll say Lawwell, but right now, Lennon is the man we need.

Very interesting results on this poll.

Kinda proves that the Lawwell-bashers are more vocal than they are numerous.

Really winds me up when some folk start going on about his "fatcat" wages - when in fact he takes home less than half what the highest-salary players rake in.

I guess either he or John Park would be the most valuable just now. Our player scouting in the last couple of seasons has been not much short of sensational.

If we ever gained entry to a big league (e.g. European Superleague, EPL, North Atlantic League etc) Dermot Desmond would become extremely valuable - firstly, because putting money into the club would now represent a serious investment prospect for him, and he would ensure we were already geared up financially and player-wise before the first match was played. And secondly because, in that situation, we would otherwise be prey to Russian mining oligarchs, rapacious US businesswanks, Indonesian human rights offenders etc all keen to use us as a cash cow.

If it came to one of them going though, I'd be really sad to see Lenny go. I've not always agreed with him, and he's done at least one thing that made me really angry, but when it comes down to it he is a smashing guy, and he is Celtic to the bone.

    Real tough one!
Desmond is calling shots behind the scenes no doubt he would be a massive loss financially but doesnt have enough 'face time' with the support.

Lawell has done a tremendous job and we are now reaping the benefits of his business sense no doubt, I love the fact he is a Celtic man and loves to skelp the huns! But January 2009 we could have buried them if he invested in the squad, he didn't they cheated to three in a row and for that i still hold a slight grudge but other than that well done mr Lawell!

John park is no doubt a great scout but he has a full team behind him doing the talent spotting, he is replaceable there are many players out there to be found and many scouts to find them.

Players come and go so they are all replaceable although I am very excited about this current crop.

Step forward Lenny celtics MVP in my eyes, yes managers come and go and Lenny makes plenty mistakes but he is building a formidable side and no way will he allow slacking from anyone inside CP. he is Celtic to the core and I bet you on a match day he would love to be part of the green brigade!!! Not only that but he has united the club after the Mowbray disaster and wee attachable doing a runner. CL football could be on the horizon and Lenny deserves to take us there and then dominate domestically for the next few years!
