Aparently Hooper was class. I think we could see a similar formation against Dundee Utd with Stokes, Murphy and Hooper all playing.

But was it a true front three, or was one up front and two wide as has happened sometimes this season.

A real good friendly. Four good goals for Celtic. I was really impressed with Murphy. Thought he took his two goals well, and Hooper scored a fine. Also though Crosas had a good game.

One down point, was the attendance, must have been 1500-2000 at most. Although there a good atmosphere.

Murphy at the double as celtic xi win in dublin
    <hr style="color: rgb(52, 151, 61); background-color: rgb(52, 151, 61);" size="1"> Murphy at the double as celtic xi win in dublin

A DOUBLE from Daryl Murphy helped fire a Celtic XI to a convincing 4-1 win over Boheimans in Dublin on Sunday afternoon.

The Irish striker opened his account on home soil with a well-placed shot in the first-half after Gary Hooper had put the Hoops in front.

Richie Towell sealed the result on the hour mark, before Murphy struck his second in the closing minutes with a curling shot from 20 yards.

David Lodola provided some cheer for the home support by netting a consolation goal in the final stages.

With a large chunk of the squad on international duty, the win over the Irish league leaders was secured with a starting XI consisting of youth and experience.

Teenagers Filip Twardzik and Towell were given a chance to impress alongside the likes Anthony Stokes, Hooper, Murphy and Efrain Juarez.

And the unfamiliar Celtic side began strongly, stroking the ball around the Dalymount pitch briskly, but they had until the 14th minute for their first clear opening.

Juarez intercepted a pass from the home side and found Murphy, and his swerving delivery narrowly evaded Hooper at the far post.

Bohs replied at the other end when Stephen Traynor headed Anto Corcoran’s cross from over.

The Hoops were dictating proceedings, however. In the 20th minute, Towell drove down the right and Hooper showed neat control to bring the ball down but was robbed when ready to pull the trigger.

And midway through the half, the striker broke the deadlock with a fine individual effort. Collecting the ball 25 yards from goal, he drove at the heart of the Bohs defence, skipped past two challenges, before finishing calmly under Chris O’Connor into the corner.

Hooper was looking a real threat anytime he received the ball and had a chance to grab a second three minutes later, but he was unable to keep his shot down after Stokes had knocked a cross from Juarez into his path.

Just before the half hour mark, Murphy doubled the Hoops’ advantage. Twardzik picked out the Irishman in the middle and he had time to chest the ball down and dive powerfully into the corner.

Keith Buckley had a chance to reduce arrears for the Dublin side but was unable to connect with Paddy Madden’s cross from the right.

And Celtic could have added a third before the break when Murphy engineered some space in the box but was unable to keep his short on target.

Lukasz Zaluska has been a virtual spectator in the opening 45 minutes, but was forced into a decent stop when Traynor teed up Mark Quigley from 18 yards.

Captain for the day, Mark Wilson, threatened to add to Celtic’s tally when he fastened on to a loose clearance and got a shot away from 16 yards but O’Connor did well to push his effort wide of the post.

A neat pass then released Hooper inside the area. He turned onto his right foot but failed to hit the target.

The chances continued to flow. Towell’s corner was met perfectly by Murphy but his header was turned past by O’Connor.

But the keeper was finally beaten again in the 60th minute. Marc Crosas delivered a wonderful ball into the mix and Dubliner Towell got on the scoresheet in his home city with a close range header.

With the result now secure, Lennon rang the changes sending on Dominic Cervi, James Keatings, Bahrudin Atajic, Islam Feruz and a trialist.

Shortly after, the trialist came close with an accurate drive which shaved the far post. Then a deep cross from the left just missed a lurking Murphy.

Bohs struck pulled a goal back in the 81st minute through substitute David Lodola after a ricochet fell kindly for him in the box.

But Murphy ensured Celtic finished with a flourish, beating replacement keeper Craig Sexton with a curling effort from 18 yards.

It capped off an entertaining afternoon in North Dublin for the supporters. And, although it was only a friendly encounter, Lennon would have been highly-satisfied by the opportunity to give so many players a run-out before the Hoops return to SPL duty next Sunday with a trip to Dundee United.

Just back from the match there good game and performance by us. Hooper,Twardsick,Crosas,Wilson and Towell really had stand out performances! Murphy was alright but was on the fringes sometimes though he did net the 2 goals,Stokes was never in it and Juarez looked a bit dodgy. Whoever our no.59 is the black lad whos a winger watch him lads he is so skillfull and the pace on him is unbeleivable very like Agathe!

Edit: And get Bohs Paddy Madden signed hes a deadly forward:50:

hes talkin about feruz, was at the game. Thought towell done very well one for the future. Murphy took his second goal very well. Wasnt really impressed with twardzik he was pretty average. Does anyone know who the no 46 is? Came on as a striker quite tall and dark skinned
