First goal was fantastic. Run from Larisey, pass from Jacynta and then the touch and finish from Shen. Beautifully worked.

Celtic FC Women are delighted to secure the signatures of four key players for another season, as Kelly Clark, Caitlin Hayes, Chloe Craig and Jacynta have all committed their immediate future to the club off the back of their dramatic and historic cup double.

The defensive trio and exciting forward have all put pen to paper for next season as defending SWPL and Scottish Cup champions, with Fran Alonso's side eyeing further success after capturing both trophies.

And the quartet also couldn’t hide their excitement at what they hope the future can hold.

    JACYNTA
Player of the Year and PFA Young Player of the Year Jacynta has turned her Celtic career on its' head this year and has lit up the Scottish game with her exciting brand of football.

Despite a decent beginning after joining in March 2021, Jacynta raised her game to another level and the 20-year-old is elated to secure another year in Glasgow.

“It’s an honour to play for a club like Celtic, and I couldn’t be happier to be staying for another season,” she began. “After winning the cup double and two Player of the Year awards I’m buzzing and ready for what the new season will bring.”

    CHLOE CRAIG
Approaching her 250th appearance for the club, defender and one-club woman Craig has been a stalwart in defence, and occasionally found in attack, over her 13 years with the club.

Now, having tasted success and into the close season with two medals around her neck, she isn’t going anywhere.

Craig excitedly told the Celtic FC website: “I’m delighted to put pen to paper after creating history and getting our hands on more silverware. I love this team and this club, I’m not going anywhere."

    CAITLIN HAYES
The Celtic camp’s mood ahead of Sunday’s cup final was bolstered by the announcement of the renewals for the captain Kelly Clark, and her defensive partner Caitlin Hayes, with the news coming prior to a colossal performance from both at Tynecastle.

Having joined Celtic in the summer of 2020 ahead of the club’s first full professional season, Hayes quickly became a fan favourite for her body-on-the-line style of defending and impressive range of passing.

The Englishwoman’s finest moment in the Hoops came last December when her thumping header sailed past Lee Alexander of Glasgow City to secure Celtic’s first piece of silverware in eleven years as they lifted the League Cup at Firhill.

Speaking of her new deal, she said: “I’ve spent the last six years travelling around the world in the pursuit of following my dreams.

"As luck would have it, year seven presented an opportunity to sign with a team that felt like home, with an opportunity to play in a shirt that weighs more than the rest and an opportunity to represent, with honour, not only a badge that holds so much history but also an opportunity to represent my family whilst enjoying every second at a club that’s like no other.

“There was no decision to be made when an extension was offered. Year one was a fairytale. Year two came with a double. It’s only right that year three comes with a treble - that's the aim.”

    KELLY CLARK
And there were no doubts in Clark’s mind where she would be plying her trade next season, as our Cup double captain explained as she signed along the dotted line 48 hours before the Scottish Cup final.

Amidst the winning celebrations, she said: “It was announced just the other day that the contract was signed, and signing off this season with another trophy, I can go and enjoy my break knowing that I’m here again next season and ready to do this all over again, if not better.

Celtic FC Women are delighted to welcome exciting young wide player, Lucy Ashworth Clifford to the club ahead of the new campaign.

Joining on July 1 on the expiration of her current contract with English Championship side Lewes, Ashworth-Clifford brings pace and versatility to Fran Alonso’s arsenal as he prepares to build on last season’s unprecedented success.

Coming through both Manchester academy systems before travelling to the States to study in Texas and play for college side Lamar Cardinals, Ashworth-Clifford arrives having garnered important playing and life experience at a young age

And after prior interest from the club, the 21-year-old said now was the right time to make the move up north as she shared her delight at penning a two-year-deal ahead of the new season.

It’s an honour, I’m very happy to be here,” she began.

“I was driving in, and the stadium is massive so it’s a bit of a difference from the Dripping Pan but it’s going to be a great experience and I can’t wait to get going.”

While Celtic’s other Lewes alumni Caitlin Hayes and Annie Timoney worked under Alonso in East Sussex, Ashworth-Clifford joined the English Championship outfit after the manager made his Celtic switch, but it was the Spaniard’s visions and the squad's Cup Double success that really sealed the deal for Celtic’s second summer signing after Amy Gallacher joined last month.

“To be honest, it was a lot of conversations with Fran that attracted me here. Last year Celtic were interested - it was just maybe not the right timing but now it feels like a good move and something that could be good for my future.

“I’m looking forward to working with him, I’ve heard good things. There are obviously girls that were at Lewes that have come up to Celtic and stayed here for a good few years so he must be doing something right.” she joked

And with the Hoops heading into 2022/23 still on a high from their Cup Double glory, the Wigan native has high aspirations for her own time in Glasgow.

She said: I saw all of their celebrations on Instagram and Twitter so I’d love to be part of that this year.

“Obviously, we’re not in Champions League at the moment but hopefully we can kick on and get into that for next season and go and smash it. Add some more to the trophy cabinet as well.

“I think I’m pretty quick, I’ll try and do stuff going forward. Hopefully bang a few goals in and get some assists going.

The fixtures for the Scottish Women’s Premier League 2022/23 season have been released and the Celtic FC Women will commence their campaign at home to Hibernian on Sunday, August 7.

Fran Alonso’s side welcome the Edinburgh side to the Penny Cars Stadium as they will be hoping to make a strong start to the season after a third place finish in the last campaign.

The Ghirls enter the new season on the back of an outstanding campaign which saw both the League Cup and Scottish Cup head back to the east end of Glasgow.

The first trophy earned was in December when the Hoops defeated Glasgow City 1-0 in the League Cup final, before defeating the same opponent in the last weekend of May in a dramatic 3-2 victory in the Scottish Cup final.

With a new campaign on the horizon, the team will hope to keep hold of their two trophies and improve on their third place finish in the SWPL.
