Was out last night, so completely missed this.Really positive performance and result, but there are a lot tougher tests out there than what they were up against v Aberdeen last night.

Celtic move above Hearts into 4th (who incidently, the Ghirls play next week) after both now played 17 games. The Hoops now on 41 with a game in hand over Hibs & Sevco (both on 42 from 18) and leaders, City (47 from 18).

Celtic FC Women are delighted to announce the addition of new January signing, Emma Westin to the club.

The winger has put pen to paper on a deal until the summer of 2026 and will link up with Elena Sadiku’s side after joining from Swedish side Hammarby.

Westin has prior experience of playing against the Hoops, having faced off against Sadiku and her squad last summer during the Ghirls’ pre-season preparations in Stockholm.

The 26-year-old makes the move to Glasgow following a four-year spell with the Swedish side after making the move back to her homeland at the beginning of 2022.

Moving to the US as a teenager, the versatile wide player spent five years in America before returning to Sweden for another spell with Hammarby.

During her time there, Westin played her part in lifting silverware, including the domestic double in 2023, winning the Damallsvenskan league and Svenska Cupen.

Similar to the Hoops, the Swedish club enjoyed a historic 2024, being involved in the UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage for the first time.

And the winger played her part in that European campaign, facing up against Manchester City, Barcelona and St Polten.

Westin also arrives with international pedigree, having represented her nation at several youth levels, including under-23s.

After signing for the club, Westin said: “It feels incredible to have signed for Celtic!

“It’s such a big club, and just being around here and walking around all the facilities is amazing. I’m really happy to be here!

“I moved to the US when I was 18 and spent four years in college there before I officially signed for Hammarby.

“I’ve been with Hammarby a long time. Now, I feel like I need a new experience, so I’m really happy to be here.

'Seeing the largeness of this club is something that excited me about moving to Celtic. I get a really good impression of Elena and the rest of the staff.'

“I’m sure I’ll get a great impression of the team itself when we meet up as well.

“It’s the big games that we all want to play. The second part of the season will bring a lot of excitement in that sense. So it will be good and I can’t wait to get going.”

Celtic Head Coach, Elena Sadiku added: "We are really happy that Emma chose to sign with us.

'She believes in our project and what we want to achieve going forward.'

"Emma is a player that gives everything for the team. Her physicality and her technical abilities will help us both offensively and defensively.

Another big game this afternoon, the SWPL Cup Semi-Final v Sevco.

Elena Sadiku has been in charge for about a year now, and I'm still not certain that she knows her strongest XI. That said, she works with the players every day, so hopefully she has got this right for this afternoon. It is a Cup game, so can kind of understand why not putting too many attacking options on the park, having them up her sleeve for later.

Noonan perhaps could've done better with that chance there.

Ross in the middle is giving the ball away too much and doesn't look like she has the energy for a high tempo game

Some good last ditch defending by the Ghirls there.

Could be an early change needed, just when Carstens was starting to make an impression down the right, is pulling up a it sore, but is still on for now. :/

Ball went out in rangers half and the ref lets them take the throw in nearly half way into the Celtic half

That should've been a FK for Celtic, for the foul on Gallagher on the edge of the box.

Refereeing in general has been not great so far.
