Possibly best draw we could have hoped for, good luck to the ladies and hope they get through to the group stages.

That is just about as good a draw as the Ghirls could've hooped for, and having the return leg in Glasgow with the winner progressing to the CL group stage.

Would be fantastic achievement for both the men and women to be playing in the CL!

Celtic FC Women will host both legs of the UEFA Women’s Champions League Round Two, as they take on Vorskla Poltava at the Albert Bartlett Stadium this month.

The matches will take place on Sunday, September 22 (KO: 12pm) and Thursday, September 26 (KO: 7.15pm).

Due to the Ukrainian side being unable to play in their home country, Celtic have worked with them, UEFA and the Scottish FA to come together and find a solution that works for both sides.

The club would also like to thank Montrose Women and the SWPL for their accommodations in rescheduling the tie originally planned for September 22, which will now take place on Thursday, September 19 (KO: 7.30pm). The venues are also reversed, with this match now taking place at Links Park, and the next match on November 24 at the Albert Bartlett Stadium.

All of these sides coming together has ensured a positive outcome for all involved, and is a fantastic representation of women’s football in Europe.

The Ghirls look forward to playing their first European games in Scotland, and your support will be vital as they look to progress to the Group Stages for the first time in their history.

Tickets will be available from tomorrow (Wednesday) and will be priced at £10 for adults and £5 for Under 16s. They’ll be on sale via Airdrie’s website

That's massive, for Celtic to be able to host both legs. Great opportunity for the Ghirls.

Celtic Football Club are delighted to announce the double deadline day signing of Emma Lawton and Morgan Cross.

The duo have signed three-year deals with the club.

Joining from Partick Thistle and Motherwell respectively, both arrive at Paradise with international experience having featured for Scotland at under-23s level.

Lawton joins the Hoops after spending several years with the Jags, having initially come through the Celtic Academy.

Following spells with the likes of Manchester City and Thistle, the defender’s development has continued to grow year-upon-year, and her performances last season were rewarded with a place in the PFA SWPL Team of the Year.

Cross is another familiar face to the Scottish game, spending time most recently with Motherwell.

Following a spell in America and at Coventry City, the striker returned to her homeland last season, and has already made a strong start to the 2024/25 campaign.

In the most recent match-up between the Celts and Motherwell, Cross was on the scoresheet with an impressive individual strike as Elena Sadiku’s side ran out 5-1 winners.

The two Scottish youngsters become the latest additions to Elena Sadiku’s squad on deadline day, adding to the options in defence and attack.

Cross as another attacking option, not a bad thing, but don't know what she really brings that differentiates from the likes of Loferski or Noonan et al. As for Lawton, coming in to challenge Chloe Craig? Or is there something else behind this?

Bit difficult to tell with the women's team sometimes, as we just don't get enough info apart from what is very closely controlled narrative from the club itself, and even that is not always all that much insight, only really when get to witness on the park over a period of time to actually get an independant idea of what the craic is.

Was just listening to the BBC Scottish Football podcast and they mentioned that, so that totally explains why then.
