Celtic FC Women are delighted to confirm the latest signing ahead of the 2024/25 campaign as the Hoops welcome Bruna Lourenço to the club.

The Portuguese defender becomes Elena Sadiku’s fifth summer addition, putting pen to paper on a two-year deal at Paradise.

Speaking about the club's latest signing, Elena Sadiku said: “I am delighted that Bruna’s mentality and drive to win exactly align with our objectives as a team going into next season.”

Initially starting her career out with AEF Faro, before a spell with FC São Luís, Bruna then headed to the Portuguese capital.

During her eight years with Sporting, the 25-year-old central defender lifted a number of trophies, winning two league titles, and achieving three cup wins alongside two Super Cup successes.

She will also bring leadership to the Celtic squad, having captained her former club on a number of occasions, while she has also gained full international honours with Portugal

The Celtic Head Coach added: "Bruna caught my eye with her impressive offensive skills as a centre-back.

"Her ability to break lines and remain calm under pressure, combined with her determination to win the ball back in defence, are exactly what I look for.”

Celtic FC Women will kick off their title defence with a home match against Dundee United as the Hoops gear up for the beginning of the new season.

Following another historic year for the Ghirls, the 2024/25 campaign is now within sight with the fixtures for the upcoming season being announced.

Elena Sadiku’s side begin their defence of the SWPL title at home, facing off against United in the first of 32 games across the campaign.

The opening game of the season will see the Celtic Head Coach face off against an opposition she has faced as boss. However, the Celts enjoyed great success against United last campaign running out 9-0 and 2-0 winners in the two meetings between the teams.

The first away trip comes the following week as the Ghirls travel to take on Glasgow City at Petershill, before rounding off the month with a home match against Motherwell and a trip up north to Aberdeen

Celtic FC Women have been drawn to face KuPS Kuopio of Finland in the first round of UEFA Women’s Champions League qualifying following today’s draw.

The Ghirls have been drawn in Group 3 and will face off against the Finnish champions in their semi-final tie on September 4.

After lifting their first ever SWPL title last campaign, Elena Sadiku’s side entered the competition via the Champions Route and have been drawn into a four-team group, which will be played as two semi-final matches.

The other two teams drawn in Celtic's group are FC Gintra of Luthuania and Agarista CSF of Moldova.

The winners of both semi-final ties will then advance to the final to determine who moves on to the next round of qualification. The two losing semi-finalists will also play out a third-placed play-off.

The semi-finals will take place on September 4, with both the final and third-placed match scheduled for three days later.

The location and venue for the matches is still yet to be decided and will be confirmed in due course, with all four fixtures being hosted by one of the four teams

Following this afternoon's 2024/25 UEFA Women’s Champions League qualifying draw, Celtic FC Women will face Finnish side, KuPS Kuopio in the first qualifying round on Wednesday, September 4, 2024.

All matches for the Round One mini-tournament (semi-final, final, and third-place play-off) will take place at a single venue. FC Gintra will host the tournament at Šiauliai Central Stadium in Lithuania.

Keen to bring UEFA Champions League football to our supporters in Glasgow, Celtic FC Women pitched to host the tournament.

However, with the other three clubs citing visa issues following Brexit, it was left to a draw between KuPS Kuopio of Finland and FC Gintra of Lithuania, who were both also eager to host.

If Elena Sadiku's side are successful against KuPS Kuopio, they will face the winner of the other semi-final, either FC Gintra or Agarista CSF Anenii Noi of Moldova, for a place in Round Two of qualifying. This final is scheduled for Saturday, September 7.

There is a also third-place play-off fixture for the losers of the opening semi-finals, also set for September 7.

To give the team more experience facing top level European competition and replicate the format of the Round One mini-tournament, the Ghirls will also travel to Sweden for a summer training camp where they will play two fixtures against Djurgården and Hammarby Women.

Ahead of the SWPL season starting on the weekend of August 10/11, Celtic will face goalkeeper Kelsey Daugherty’s former side, Djurgården, on Saturday, August 3 at Stockholm Stadium (Kick-off Celtic Park time: 1pm).

Djurgården are offering free entry for the game.

The Hammarby tie kicks off at 3pm (Celtic Park time) on Wednesday, August 7 at Tyresö Vallen Stadium, where the champions of Scotland and Sweden go head-to-head.

Hammarby were also the last team that Celtic Head Coach, Elena Sadiku, played for before retiring.

Celtic FC Women are pleased to announce that Hana Kerner will remain with the club for the coming season.

The right-back has put pen to paper on a deal that will see her remain in Glasgow for the 2024/25 campaign as pre-season preparations ramp up.

The American defender has been with the Hoops since January 2023, moving to Scotland and making a positive start to life as a Celtic player.

During her first six months with the club, she played her part in the Celts’ second consecutive Scottish Cup success, scoring her first goal in green and white during the 5-1 quarter-final victory against Hearts.

However, shortly after that, the full-back suffered an injury which has kept her out for over a year.

Hana has continued to work her way back to full fitness, and is currently part of the pre-season preparations for the upcoming campaign.

Everyone at Celtic would like to congratulate Hana, and look forward to seeing her continue working her way back to the pitch

Loving Kit Loferski agreeing terms to stay with the Ghirls, so that's brilliant news.

Not entirely sure about Kerner though. She has been out a long, long time, so hopefully she can get back to where she was under Fran Alonso in the second half of the 2022/23 season. Hope so. At least the extension being for one season, so she can prove that is fully back.

As the 2024/25 season edges ever closer, we are delighted to confirm that Celtic FC Women will open the new campaign at Celtic Park, with the first game of the season taking place at Paradise on Saturday, August 10 (KO: 1pm).

After lifting the SWPL title for the first time in the club’s history back in May thanks to Amy Gallacher’s late strike against Hibernian, the Ghirls are gearing up to kick off the season in less than a month’s time.

And we can now announce that the title defence will begin with a return to Celtic Park as Elena Sadiku's side take on Dundee United.

The Celts will open the season on Saturday, August 10, with the action getting underway at 1pm.

Last season, supporters turned out in their thousands at Celtic Park to watch the Hoops against Hearts in April, before cheering on the squad to league title success thanks to a dramatic 1-0 win against Hibernian on the final day the season.

You can play your part once more and cheer on Kelly Clark and the Ghirls in their opening game against Dundee United.

Celtic are delighted to announce the signing of Saoirse Noonan, who has become the sixth addition to Elena Sadiku’s squad ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

The Irish forward joins the Hoops on a three-year deal after most recently spending time with English side, Durham.

Alongside her spell south of the border, the 25-year-old also arrives in Glasgow with plenty of experience in her homeland, turning out for clubs including Cork City and Shelbourne, where she lifted silverware on two occasions.

As a youngster, football wasn’t the only sport Noonan played at a high level, playing Gaelic Football with her home county of Cork.

Noonan also brings international experience to the Hoops frontline, having been capped three times by the Republic of Ireland.

With pre-season preparations continuing for the Celts, and the season edging ever closer, Elena Sadiku has added another strong option to her forward line for the campaign ahead.
